I called and asked about getting a full set of 'Gel-X' nails and they said they don't do it because its "too much work", this should have been my first red flag to go elsewhere. I said, how about 'Dip Nails' and they said yes.I showed up five minutes early for my appointment and the woman (who I assume is the owner) kept eyeing me up and down as if I was a thief in a store about to attempt to rob her. She barks at me to sit down and keeps saying "don't you want acrylics? Your "type" likes acrylics with the long nails and colors right" I assume she means Black people? I simply say, 'No thank you, just the Dip Set' which I would think she would be appreciative of, as they're more expensive. She proceeds to apply the extensions of the nails at the very lowest point of the nail bed and I ask her to move them higher or else they will not only break easily but damage my nails. She refuses and proceeds. She then demands a "tip" when I'm paying. Two days later, and this is two days of working on a computer and reading books, not heaving lifting by any means, TWO NAILS have broken. So I go back into the shop thinking this is crazy, I paid $75 for a full set and 20% of the service is already damaged?? I show her (the original woman who performed my service) and she I kid you not says to me "can't you just wait for them to fall off and come back and we'll do a new set".I was DUMBFOUNDED. I said absolutely not she needed to repair both immediately. At this point, people can hear the conversation and she knows she's in the wrong because people are looking at her like she is out of line, so she begrudgingly agrees to fix them. How, does do so?? By taking off the entire broken nail and re-doing each of them? Pfft, Not by any means, simply by adding a bit of drug store glue and powder on top and popping me under the ** light.
