    My experience with Appliance Repair Service, Inc:
    .Repair was prompt and repairman very cordial
    .In and out of house in 30-40 min
    .~20 mile round trip from office to house (according to gps)
    .$51.25 for part
    .$273.65 for labor
    .$30.05 for tax
    .Total $354.95

    We repaired your range in less than 24 hours from the time you call our office on our first trip to the home. The technician gave you a quote for the work up front and you had the option to decline the estimate and just pay the service fee. We do not work on an hourly rate but on a national labor code book. The knowledge base and experience our technicians have allows them to be efficient in their work, therefore you do not pay them for their time but rather their knowledge base and experience that allows them to perform the work to their highest abilities. If you are devaluing a repairman's work based off of time spent in your home then please feel free to use a cheaper alternative in the future.

    I respectfully disagree. Please re-read my post. I did not devalue your tech in any way. I indicated he did a GREAT job. You also mentioned the technician gave me a quote for the work 'up front' and I had the option to decline the estimate and just pay the service fee. It is true he gave he me an option to decline the work but there was no mention, to my knowledge, of an alternate service fee. Once he was already in the house I'd be liable for his time anyway. The part cost was negligible. It would make no sense at all for me to decline a lesser offer if it was available. A REAL 'up front' estimate should have been given on the phone before the appointment was made. You would not have known the faulty part at that time but, since your labor cost was clearly stated in the national labor code book, you absolutely could have presented the minimum service cost of $273.65 at that time before a minute of manpower was exhausted. A decision could have been made then whether to proceed. That would completely avoid issues like this. I regret this could not have been resolved in a reasonable manner. I have no desire to diss your company..... just sharing my experience.
