    We boarded our dogs at Birchwood Kennels for Thanksgiving weekend and regretted it. When we picked them up, Major’s toenail was broken, and Monte was a bit lethargic with an unexplained paw injury. Despite calling and texting multiple times yesterday, we received delayed responses, and David, the staff member we dealt with, downplayed our concerns; we did advise we would be taking Monte for a check up at his Veterinarian this morning. Birchwood’s lack of communication continued today, and rather than contacting us to get an update on Monte they instead called our vet multiple times, "out of concern" (despite being told by them that they would need to contact us directly for any information regarding the dogs). Yet, we still have not heard from them ourselves to ask how Monte is doing today. They did advise to our vet during a call that they were willing to pay for Monte’s appointment but we declined this. For us, it is about the principle, and not the money. Monte's injury thankfully turned out to be minor, but we were disappointed with the care and attention given. We paid extra for daily playtime and engagement with our dogs, yet no one noticed Monte's (nor Major's) condition during their multi-day stay. We won't be returning.
