On Apr 6th, 2023 we gave Martin Archaeology Consultants a deposit of $1,829.75 to perform a survey of our property in **************. April 10th and 11th was the first scheduled date for the survey to begin at 9:a.m.. ************************************* called to reschedule survey for the April 13th, 2023 due to Covid. Then on April 14th we received an email requesting a reschedule to Saturday, April 15th, 2023, due to damp weather. By 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15th it was evident that Martin Archaeology Consultants was not going to show up for survey. Numerous, text and phone calls to ******************************* and ******* ********************** were unanswered. That afternoon I received a phone call from Mr. ********************** apologizing for not being able to do the survey. I asked for reimbursement of deposit and Mr. ********************** agreed to reimburse. Since that date I have had to call, text and email on numerous occasions to demand reimbursement of my $1,829.75 all unanswered. On April 27th, 2023 "C **********************" signed for a registered letter which I sent asking again for reimbursement. Still no response or reimbursement. On May 3, 2023 our daughter *************************** (on our behalf) made contact with Mr. ********************** and he again apologized for NOT doing survey and said he would reimburse our deposit. To date, NO reimbursement. I am 75 years old and have worked hard to save my money. I really need to be reimbursed. Please help!

    Business Response

We originally scheduled to do a survey of the historical cemetery on the complainants property and accepted a deposit on April 6th with the survey scheduled for April 10th and 11th. Due to weather and my own recovery from COVID taking longer than expected the survey start date was pushed back further. This was initially handled by my wife, ******* ******** Martin. I contacted that complainant on the 15th and explained that we had not travelled to Winchester yet, due to my son having the same symptoms and not wanting to expose others. She requested a refund at that time and explained that she felt "taken" at which I apologized and agreed to the refund. I began initiating the refund process on my end, since I utilize a credit card processing service.

I did receive an email on that Monday from the complainant and I let her know that it was processing and that it would take several days to show up in her account.

On April 18, my company as a whole, including my wife and son, traveled to rural western ************ to complete a project for a federal agency. We were there until April 25th, when we then transitioned to rural western ************** to complete a project for another national historic preservation agency that we have been working with for the past six months. We were there until we returned home May 6th.

I was contacted by their daughter on the 3rd of May and relayed that I had in fact issued a refund when I said I did. I also contacted the credit card processor and worked with them to move things forward. I was told that there was an issue from where I switched deposit accounts. On May 8th I also provided her a screen shot of where it was showing refunded to them. I have been in contact with the daughter on almost a daily basis since that time as she has continued to issue threats, etc. The funds are not in my accounts and have not been in my credit card processors accounts. It reads refunded when you look at their information that I have available to me.

We received the certified letter through the ** Box when returned home from our work in **************. It had not been signed for by ******* ******** Martin, but by a postal worker at the *********** since it is a ** Box.

I did not respond to it since I was in communication with the daughter.
