I purchased a 2023 Chrysler Voyager with ****** miles on it, used but was told it was in impeccable condition. Within 1 month of driving it, the shifter stopped working. Took it in for inspection, they ordered the part and scheduled a follow up appointment, was told the warranty didnt cover it, and paid $900 to have the shifter replaced. Within days, the shifter stopped working again. Took it back, was told the starter battery was dead and needed to be replaced. $500 for that fix, and literally it stalled in the middle of the intersection coming out of the dealership. Took it back, they claimed No error codes were showing and said theyve never heard of this issue happening. I dont feel comfortable driving this $22,000 vehicle (with $1,400 in repairs so far), they said they would continue to look into it.Business Response

Unfortunately Jason Lewis CDJR nor Mr. ****** could have possibly know that these two parts would fail 3 months or ***** miles after date of purchase and since they are not covered by the 12/12 powertrain warranty then Mr. ****** would be responsible for the repairs. I have included a copy of the extra coverages that were offered to Mr. ****** which would have covered these items and labor with the exception of the start/ stop battery but he declined to purchase these. I was present when Mr. ****** picked up his van and immediately returned saying that it had died in the middle of the intersection. Our service manager plugged in the code reader to see if any messages had been stored and could not find any. He also rode with Mr. ****** immediately after this happened to see if they could duplicate the issue which they could not. Since there was no more diagnosing that could be done Mr. ****** was told that he could take his van with him or if he wanted he could leave it with us and we would put a couple more drive cycles on it in an effort to catch it "acting up". To date we have not been able to get it to do anything out of the ordinary.
Mr. ****** can come pick his van up at any time and doesn't owe us anything more. I also do not feel that as a company we should be responsible for reimbursing a customer for unseen future repairs needed on a pre owned vehicle who's "bumper to bumper" coverage was over ****** miles. These are the reasons that providers like ******* offer extended service contracts to cover the items that the manufacture no longer covers. Mr. ****** can and should go online and look for companies that will sell him extended coverage on his van so that he has some protection for the life of his loan.
If his van has a stalling issue in the future then we will be happy to assist him or he can take it to the shop of his choice.

Bought 2014 Jeep Wrangler on Dec. 5th,2024. Jeep went back to Jason Lewis for repairs almost immediately. Brake pads and rotors was supposed to be changed but they was not. I ended up putting $400 into this repair on my own because the service department had tried twice and kept getting it wrong. On May 19th, the Jeep broke down again. It went back to the shop. $125 tow bill. Jeep was overheating. Warranty covered an engine replacement and the Jeep continued to overheat and have no AC or heat. Back to the shop it went. The service department stated they have no idea what is wrong. They also broke and cut my dash and had to replace it because there service department couldnt get it on, they are paying my mechanic to put it back on. They replaced some more things and gave it back to me on Aug 23rd. It is now September 01, and the Jeep started overheating AGAIN!!!! I need some help from someone to make this right. I feel that they should buy the Jeep back and the months payments ive made, I should get back. Buying a car that has sat at the dealership more than at your house is not right. I have receipts, videos, pictures and emails for proof.Customer Answer

Hi,
Jason Lewis did respond. They came and picked the Jeep up and took it back to the Sparta shop for those mechanics to look it over. They did change the Thermostat, this is I think the 3rd one that has been put in. They returned the Jeep on Sept. 11th. I drove the Jeep to ********* from Jamestown to work and on the way home the Jeep started to over heat again. I have sent the company another email and called and spoke with a *****. I have sent them the video I took and he said "He has no idea what is wrong with it" This has been happening since December. It has been in the shop since the day I bought it. Isn't there some kind of laws that help against this?

I am rejecting this response because: the issue of over heating has not been resolved. Jason Lewis has not even had anyone to call me to tell me this themselves. They wrote an email on 9/25/2024 stating they dont know what is wrong with the Jeep. They are done trying and told me to come pick up my Jeep. I have talked to ***** at ***************** about a trade in. I will not make a trade and be upside down and have a $637 monthly payment. My payment now is less than $400. That is not a deal or fair trade after I was given a promise of the overheating issue being fixed. I have attached the diagnostic videos that they sent me showing that they know that it is still overheating, but they dont know how to fix it.
Sincerely,
***** *******Business Response

Here are the emails I sent. I didn't say we couldn't fix it. I said based on the diagnostics, which I sent to *****, there was nothing else to change that would change the temp readings. I have a notification from the manufacturer stating that this is not abnormal for this particular model Jeep. She stated that she had mechanic who disagreed and I stated that if they wanted to diagnose the Jeep then I would pay up to one hour diagnosis fee and if their diagnosis was correct and it repaired the Jeep then I would be willing to reimburse her for the repair but I had to see the estimate prior to the work being done. My reason for this is the same reason I did not want to keep throwing parts at a Jeep that wasn't broken. A shop could spend thousands of dollars on non returnable parts trying to make the Jeep perform different. We have reimbursed her for the brakes as promised. We did offer to trade her out of the Jeep. I was not the one who worked the deal but what I do know is that the Jeep she asked us to trade her into was $1***** more dollars than the one she bought 10 months ago so of course the payment is going to be higher. At this point I have instructed both service departments and sales staff to cease communications with ***** and to refuse service. She bought a 10 year old Jeep Wrangler with ******* miles on December 5th, 2023 and it was sold As-Is with a 12 month/ ****** mile powertrain warranty. She bought this Jeep in good faith from a lifelong friend of hers. It was 5 months and ***** miles later before she came forward with any issues regarding overheating. Overheating is not a condition that comes and goes so it is not possible that the condition was pre existing to her purchasing the vehicle. I hate that we are not able to resolve this in a way that she would be willing to accept.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: the Jeep is not fixed. I did not want to trade in on a new Jeep because I did not want a larger payment. That is why I bought the older jeep in the first place. I want the jeep I bought to be good to drive. I should not have to trade up and give Jason Lewis more money. I was made this car trade in deal because it was the only one that you could put me in to hide the trade in money, this would have paid off my jeep plus put the extra on top of the new jeep and you can only do that with new vehicles according to the salesman. I declined this offer quickly, I want the Jeep that I bought to do what its supposed to do. This Jeep does me absolutely no good if I cant drive it up and down a mountain *********/Double Top roads to get home for it overheating. Im having another mechanic look at this and I will follow up with Jason Lewis.

Purchased **** Ram **** Cummins with extended warranty. Approximately 1 week of having vehicle overheating/loss of coolant started to occur. *** told me to bring it in to be checked out. Took truck to business and several days later got a response of it being a loose hose clamp. No previous signs of leaking coolant on or around engine. Took vehicle and week to 2 weeks later, same problem occurred. Took back the 2nd time and got same answer as 1st time, loose hose clamp, taking several days to check. ********* back and a couple of weeks later truck started running hot and getting worse and loosing more coolant than before. Took truck back to dealer and explained again the loosing coolant/ running hot issue. Left truck for repair and took approximately 4 wks to repair and put new head gasket on engine. ********* back once again and now truck will not even go far, as in 40 or less miles, without running hot and loosing quite a bit of coolant. Took the truck back for the last time and by this time have lost customer and work revenue due to truck not operating. JLA call and say the truck needs a egr cooler on engine which is a major emission part but isnt covered by warranty. Wanting $4000 to install new egr cooler and after loosing revenue and customer, not able to repair truck and not sure that would actually fix the truck. I have ask manager to make this right being they have sold me a bad running vehicle. I give ***** as down payment and have added approximately $2500 of extras to truck for commercial use and new tires and front end work as well. They have given me a option to put me in a similar truck thats priced a lil more that what I purchased this truck and thats fine but the ***** I put down on the truck will be lost after I finance the later truck. Payoff is about ***** and they want to take the truck back and me just straight up finance the new truck without any down payment. Im taking a major lose and now Im out nearly $20000 total because of a bad vehicle that will not stand behind. It has been in the shop about half the time Ive own the truck and not a reliable dependable truck to say the least.Business Response

The truck was purchased on 8/01/2022 with ******* miles on it. The first repair order was written on 9/14/2022 with ******* miles on it. I have copied and pasted the notes from the Repair Orders that we have. The diagnosis of the *** valve was on 10/20/2022 at ******* miles. I have included the dates and notes for the repair orders. Jason Lewis Automotive understands that this truck is a necessary component of consumers business just like many of our Heavy Duty truck buyers use their trucks for work. We will be glad to assist with the replacement of the *** valve by working out something on the labor and parts or we would be willing to try and trade consumer out of this truck into a different vehicle.

I am rejecting this response because: The 2018 Ram purchased has been nothing but trouble since it has been purchased and all I have done is spent money after the big ***** down payment I put down on vehicle and saying its worth the estimated price due to not Running. Its not running because the issues have not been fixed and now saying the warranty isnt liable for this major component which truck cannot be operated without it legally. I would consider trading for other truck but since Ive bought this truck with down payment and not able to use my credit has taken a considerable hit with no money for down payment on another truck. If they could get me financed without a major down payment then that would be fine if they finance close to amount that I have financed now and not much more. Not really sure what the answer is other than give my money back and take truck back for price the truck was sold for. Just need to settle this because it is taking a toll on my finances and business as well.
Sincerely,

I purchased a vehicle in September 2022 which seemed to be in great condition. In December the car would not start had it towed which was expensive and then they determined it was a very bad old battery that I had to have replaced to the expense of $343. I would like to be reimbursed for that expense. I bought the car expecting it was in good condition.Business Response
Date: 12/07/2022
According to the salesperson we were contacted by the customer and informed that the vehicle would not start. Per the salesperson, we offered to tow the vehicle and to bring it to our shop for inspection. The customer stated they had AAA and their own shop. A battery is not something that we would replace during a used car inspection unless it showed signs such as a no start condition and required to be jumped off. That probably was not the case here or it would have been noticed much sooner than now. We were not made aware that the customer wanted to be reimbursed or had the battery replaced until this complaint was filed with the BBB. Perhaps if the customer would like to contact the store manager where she purchased the vehicle and discuss the matter with him then I am sure that something could be worked out.Customer Answer

I have included a copy of the warranty for review. I believe after talking to the manager involved that he communicated the wrong message regarding the warranty. The vehicle has a warranty that is covered by the included document. However, since the vehicle only had 4,721 miles at the time of purchase then our powertrain warranty would never be used because the time and mileage would expire prior to the Mfg's 3 year/ 36,000 mile comprehensive warranty. As for the car being in water, we saw no evidence of this during our inspection process. Furthermore, we purchased this vehicle at a ******* auction and I included their inspection report. This car scored a 4.7 with 5.0 being perfect per *******. I have also included the ****** report for review which shows no issues regarding water. We make the ****** available for for every pre owned car listed on our website. As for the phone calls not being returned, we do apologize. Please feel free to reach out and ask for ** if you wish to discuss any further. I traded a 2019 ********** ***** for this 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, they gave me 14,500 for mine and my 2019 ********** ***** was paid in full I gave them the title to mine and plus we made 688.61 car payments on this jeep we bought the vehicle 4/20/2022 and 7/3/2022 is when we started having issues with the vehicle and it's got a warranty on it and everything but it stop running on 7/3/2022 and the towing company didn't come get it till 7/5/2022 and it stayed in there a whole week and half they said it was a starter issue and they replaced the water pump and they were suppose to replace the ignition coil and plugs but they didn't. I got it back on 7/20/2022 and a couple of days later it was back in the shop once again for the same issue and they claim the starter was bad again I was traveling to north Augusta South Carolina visiting family and it broke down the next day after I was there and the towing truck came got it on 07/28/2022 and took it to ****** ***** Chrysler dodge Jeep Ram and it stayed in there till the 8/3/2022 and got it back to Tennessee still having the same issues and took it in today and they didn't really do much to it they said they couldn't figure out the problem where I bought the car at it was smoking out of the exhaust don't know what the issue is cause they diagnosed it and still couldn't figure out why it was smoking or not starting up I've contacted Jeep care and ****** about this issues they said they would fix it but never did still having the same ongoing issue. ***** ****** and ***** *** did purchase the Jeep from us as stated. It was March 21, 2022. At the time of purchase it had 19,636 miles on it. When the vehicle quit running on July 3, 2022 it had 44,000 miles on it. approximately 24,000 miles were put on this vehicle in 3 1/2 months. This mileage is almost double the industry standard for miles drive in a year. There are no records of any routine maintenance performed during these 24,000 miles. A starter is a wear and tear item, as is a battery. From the video submitted by ***** it would appear that she may have a blown head gasket. However, it was not doing this the last time it was here. We tried to trade her out of this vehicle but when I presented her with an option that I felt would work she stated that she did not like that vehicle because "people would laugh at her". It happened to be the same vehicle that we loaned her while her Jeep was in the shop. It was a brand new Jeep Renegade 2022, however when she returned this "loaner" 14 days later it had 3,600 miles on it and know can no longer be financed as a new car. This was a clear violation of her Loaner Agreement that she signed. The warranty she has gives her the flexibilty to take her Jeep elsewhere and have it fixed if she is unhappy with our service.
Consumer Response /* (3000, 13, 2022/08/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Because none of what they're saying is true about the issues with the vehicle there's more wrong with it then this******* ***** had to put another new starter in this vehicle and I was visiting family at the time the dealership never offered a loaner for me to drive I was stuck there no transportation at all. And my vehicle has been in ***** ***** s shop more than 3 times already they claim they fixed the ignition coil never did and they switch the 2nd coil to the 4th coil knowing that it needed coil ignition it was misfiring I've told them multiple times about this issue they refuse to fix the vehicle I've all the papers on this where they said they fix everything knowing that they didn't they didn't offer to come get my vehicle when I told them plainly I didn't have the money to pay for a towing truck and now it's smoking out of the exhaust and it's running really rough. They didn't approve me cause they wanted me to trade my car in for a renegade something that less then my vehicle when I drive off the lot it's value is gonna go down i wouldn't never trade my vehicle in for one of those cause my vehicle is worth more than that renegade they had ran my credit way too many times and denied me and refuses to fix the vehicle they never did once explain to me how many miles I had to put on the renegade when I was using it as a loaner the guy from service department told me it doesn't matter cause I had places to go and appointments to go to never once said anything about mileage. My vehicle is under a warranty and want me to pay 688 a month for a car that hardly wont start I'm scared to go anywhere in it when it's smoking or not wanting to start they told me that they couldn't even figure out what was wrong with my car they told me it was the starter and it wasn't. I took it by **** **** and they gave me a paper giving my the codes I took it to the dealership they didn't bother to even care to fix what was wrong with it I've all those papers on that also. I traded my 2019 ********** ***** for the Jeep and they gave me 14,500 for my ********** and that was paid off plus car notes that me and ***** has made on the vehicle. Their paper states that they have a 100,000 miles warranty on his vehicles and mine says up to 65,000 miles on mine . What a rip off..
Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2022/08/12) */
Unfortunately, ***** has no idea how any of this works and that is a lot of her issue. She has bad credit and can not finance the full amount needed for her to purchase a different vehicle. She also has negative equity in her trade due to the the above average mileage she has put on the vehicle in the last three months. She would have never been approved for the Jeep Grand Cherokee in the first place if it wasn't for the equity she had in her trade. If she was unhappy with the trade value she shouldn't have signed the paperwork. As for fixing her Jeep under warranty- we have no reason to not want to fix her Jeep under warranty. It's absurd to think that a service department trying to make a profit would turn away a warranty job. It's guaranteed pay. It seems that she doesn't want it fixed or it would be in a shop here or somewhere else. She wants a different vehicle and she doesn't qualify for one. That's per the lenders not us, again it's absurd to think that a car DEALERSHIP would not sell her another vehicle if we could, that is the business we are in.
