    Sweet Jesus! I called Shanes to sweep my chimney. What I got was a Chimney Sweep, an hour of conversation about literally nothing, a 30 page inspection report and a $2700 estimate to do a bunch of stuff to my chimney that I did not ask for, follow up calls with unwarranted pressure from the guy *****, to schedule the "Repairs" which I will not do, told him I did not want from the beginning. This is some ridiculous stuff! I do not recommend this company if you are looking for someone to do some "Chimney Cleaning".

    1. You are a returning customer who contacted us for service. We do not engage in cold calling; our services are provided only upon customer request.
    2. We performed the same inspection and sweep service for you in November 2019, which you accepted without any issues or complaints.
    3. Your recent inspection and sweep, which you requested, were performed on May 17, 2024. Our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software automatically sent you the inspection report and estimate on May 30, 2024. This automatic process is in place for documentation and liability purposes.
    4. You declined the estimate on the same day, May 30, 2024.
    5. Your BBB complaint was filed on October 10, 2024, nearly five months after our service.
    As a company certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA), we adhere to strict safety protocols. Our policy, which we communicate during initial customer contact, is to conduct a thorough inspection before any sweeping. This approach is designed to identify potential safety hazards that could put homeowners at risk if overlooked.
    It is our professional obligation to inform homeowners of any safety issues with their fireplaces and chimneys. The inspection report sent to you serves as a comprehensive assessment of your chimney's condition, which you can save for future reference. The estimate provided allows you to accept or decline any recommended repairs at your discretion.
    Regarding your concern about follow-up calls pressuring you to schedule repairs, our records indicate that this did not occur. Once you declined the estimate on May 30, 2024, no further action would have been taken from our end.
