The issue we are having: We got our son into Jiu-Jitsu as an outlet for energy and a way to learn defense mechanisms in a controlled environment. After looking around and talking to friends, we found JC school of Jiu-Jitsu in ******, **. They offered us a three day free trial, and by the end, our son was very interested and wanted to continue training. We looked at what the price for month (sign up fee/ Gi/ etc.) and one of the instructors advised us via text that if we decided to pay for the year vs monthly, we could get a bit of a discounted rate. After looking at the pros and cons, we decided to go with the whole year. Now our son is no longer interested due to a few reasons; older/bigger kids picking on the younger ones (holding them down to make them tap), instructors rough housing, and fear of now fighting. Because of this, I reached out to the owner to explain the situation and see if there was a way to work out a refund for the remainder of the time we would have been there. He said that because we got a discounted rate and what weve trained so far with the adjusted monthly rate, there is no difference in pay and therefore we are not entitled to any money back. Over all Im confused. From my understanding, If you gave me a discounted rate, then my monthly payment is less because that is what you agreed to charge me monthly when we initiated this agreement. I provided the email exchange that I have had with the owner as well as the text messages with the instructor that initially signed my son up. Also, other than signing the liability waiver in the beginning, no other information has been provided.
