They left large gaps in my roof that were previously not there. They refuse to fix claiming it is up to code. Now I have to battle roof rats and their resolution is it ***** to be you.I want them to repair the roof to the original standard. I have photos

They will try to claim it is code. However, before they replaced the roof the openings did not exist. They refuse to repair to previous standards nor to pay exterminator fees to remove rodents that get in through the opening. Their attitude is oh well, deal with it.

      Thank you

Yes, we completed the scope of work in the contract. The city inspected the house and verified it was up to code this is uploaded for verification . We gave an estimate for additional work requested by the homeowner , he does not want to pay for additional work to his house. His photos show the roof completed however the fascia siding board not touching the shingles. We did not install the fascia board and he needs to request this from the home builder.

I am rejecting this response because:

      Hello BBB,

      Thank you for this opportunity.

Claiming to have completed within the scope of the contract is not an excuse to do less than the original work. The gaps were not present before Absolute Construction replaced the roof.

Yes, the city did inspect, but they neglected to get a permit for my unit. The inspector stated that sadly, it is code; however, it should not have been left like that. They should have put flashing where the gap is. Because something meets the minimum standards does not mean it is a completed job. There were no gaps prior to the roof being replaced, therefore, it is reasonable to request the contractor to cover the gaps with flashing.

I never received an estimate for additional work; however,it makes no sense for me to pay to have them do it properly, as they should have done in the first place. Offering a new estimate is not a resolution.

No one is asking for a fascia board to be installed, that is an excuse. Flashing is needed and they do install flashing when replacing the roofs. And the homebuilder is not an excuse either.

And now, to intimidate me, they are threatening me with legal action for leaving a poor review of their work that is in very poor taste on their part.

In my opinion, a simple resolution is that Absolute Construction needs to add the flashing and, now, apologize for sending me a letter from an attorney to intimidate me into removing my online review. If a company does a poor job, one has a right to leave a review about their worka review is merely ones opinion.

Again, thank you for your time and effort.

      Regards,
      *******

As stated we were not contracted to do this particular work therefore we cannot do it unless we are contracted to do it.Our work meets code and manufacturer specifications.
The work you are requesting is not feasible because there is no specifications or building code for this. So you extorting us with false claims and misleading the public about our reputation because we wont go perform free work that is not even acceptable in a building standard . This type of work is done off records by a handyman to prevent squirrels. Its nothing that is mentioned in any trade manual or literature on flashing detail.

We will continue with our legal action towards you.

I am rejecting this response because:

Hello BBB, As I have stated the gaps were not there prior to the roof being replaced. I understand it is up to code; however, in my opinion a contractor should at least do job equal to what was there. And if not, in my opinion, that is poor work that they should step up and fix. Obviously, they are unwilling. Therefore, I'm hoping to seek relief from you.

I am not extorting them nor making false claims nor misleading the public about them. Giving my opinion about their quality of work is one's right. There is nothing false or misleading. Prior to work, there were no gaps, after the work there are gaps. I don't know what you (BBB) can do, to have them put flashing on the gaps, or apologize for threating and trying to intimidate me, but if you can that would be great. If not, then we are at an impasse.

      Thank you in advance,

      *******

Our roof has been leaking tar , apparently since this repair has been made. Each year when the temps get above 90 degrees there are tar drips (seen in the attached pics) from the roof. It has messed up our patio stone, furniture and other items. The owner of the business claimed no fault even after we paid to have the roof shingles tested in a lab where they were created. The lab stated it is the fault of the roofers who laid the shingles incorrectly yet the management declined to inspect the work.

      Good morning,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We would like the opportunity to amend this situation. May we please have a copy of the lab results so we can review as well as what the manufacturer stated? Please feel free to reach out to ***************** at ************ if you have any more questions or concerns.
