Accurate Leak and Lines construction company that they contracted did not completely refill the tunnels with the dirt that they excavated from underneath the house. They left a huge mound of dirt in our driveway that should have gone back into the tunnel that they dug underneath our garage. The workers already covered up the access hole in our garage with concrete, so we cannot check to see how big of air pockets were left as voids under the house. The company wants to haul away the large mound of dirt that is in our driveway and I do not want that to happen because it belongs underneath our house. I want them to put all of the dirt back under the house so that our house doesnt collapse into a sink hole. We do not want cracks to form in the foundation or any part of the structure or walls of the house due to missing dirt. After reading some plumbing articles online, they said that thats extremely dangerous, and that it would negatively affect the foundation, especially in the ever-changing soils of northern *****.I am extremely concerned about the large open voids that are under our foundation and that they will cause issues with the soundness and safety of our home. This company needs to tightly pack all of the dirt back into the tunnels that they dug out from under our house. This companys workers also hauled away about six wheel barrels of dirt from a huge pile of tunneled dirt in our backyard without our consent and we want that dirt returned so that it can go back under our foundation as well. We do not want any missing dirt from under our home.I also have the documentation of pictures and emails to the company as proof and support for everything that I am reporting.

      Business Response

There was a small misunderstanding by the customer regarding the backfill and removal of excess dirt from the job site.  The customer made the complaint while we were still in the repair process at her residence.  Once the process was re-explained to her, she was satisfied, and the work was completed as proposed.  All of our estimates to customers are clear regarding backfill and haul off of excess dirt.  We are happy to discuss this matter further if there is anything that remains to be resolved.  Thank you.

I have reviewed the business response and accept this resolution.

I do want to mention that I had concerns about not having between 20%-30% of our excavated dirt being returned to the tunnels from which they came. I was expecting perhaps 10%-15% of the dirt not being returned, so what I was expecting (because it is not specifically explained or stated in the contract) and what actually happened were concerning and alarming to me as a customer. I do not think that it was diplomatic or fair of ********* to tell us to our face in our house that they could reopen the freshly installed concrete slab that they had poured the evening before, but they would charge us extra money for the labor if they did. This statement made me feel like what I was trying to ask was out of line when it was a legitimate concern or question. He then said that they would only fit about two more buckets worth of dirt into the hole if or once they did. Again, that statement did not make me feel comfortable and it did not make me feel that he understood my concerns for the overall well being of the house. The more he explained how the process works in the industry, the more I had to come to terms with having to accept that this is how all of the businesses in this field operate. That is why I am accepting their response.
