On March 27th, 2025, I bought used 2016 Land Rover LR4 *** from **** **** (owner) of Classic Car Sales. The *** was sold to me with major oil leaks from left and right engine gaskets, which I was not aware or informed by ****.Few days before the purchase, I received a call from **** stating that he noticed a SINGLE DROP of oil under the *** and took it to his mechanic. As per him, the issue was with the oil filter not fully tight and leaking oil and the issue was corrected. I trusted him and was impressed with his honesty and thanked him, but it should have been the red flag.Within 36 hours from the purchase, I noticed 15 to 20 oil drops on my driveway. On Saturday March 29th, I took the *** to Classic Car Sales, but **** was not in the office. His associate connected me to **** via phone. **** told me that oil will continue to drop for days and weeks, but I should not worry. I took the *** to my mechanic. He did not see any indication of oil leak from the oil filter, which is located on the top of the engine. Also, there was no sign of any oil under the hood or on top of the ********* mechanic power washed the engine from the bottom, as it was covered with oil all over. I was asked to drive for 2-3 days and bring it back to properly diagnosis the root cause of the oil leak. When I took it back, it was diagnosed to have oil leaks from left and right engine gaskets. Also, spark plug seals needed to be repacked. I forward the initial estimate to **** **** and also advised him that the cost may rise after the work has started. ***** response was that he is willing to Pay for the parts only and not the labor. I counter the offer and requested for 50% of the total cost of fixing the oil leak issue. I also provided him the second estimate ($8,210.08) from the Land Rover of Dallas dealership, which was over 5 times the initial estimate from my mechanic. No response from ****, after the counter offer from me.***PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT FOR FULL EXPLAINATION***Business Response

Mr. ***** ***** purchased a 2016 Land Rover LR4 from our Dealership March 24th, 2025, after "Test Drive" and looking over the vehicle multiple times but did not take delivery of the vehicle immediately because he wanted the dealership to get a New Auxiliary Battery before finalizing his purchase. The vehicle was in our showroom floor when I noticed the oil drops, and the cause was from the "Oil Filter Housing Seal" which I reported to Mr. ***** after I took the vehicle to a reputable service (B.N ****************** Shop in ************) for diagnostic and the repair was done. I also changed the Oil with ******************* since the oil filter housing filter including oil filter was replaced. I emailed him a copy of the repair to confirm what was done to the vehicle. The Service manager of ************** never suggested that the valve cover gaskets needed replacement, the oil leak from the Oil Filter housing saturated some area of the engine and the shop did clean around it as much of the oil as possible, but indicated that there may be some drips from the excess that got into engine from top where the filter housing is located. Mr. ***** knew quite well that the vehicle did not have any indication of the Valve Covers gasket leaking oil because under the hood of the was never smelling or smoking after driving the vehicle multiple times around and on the highway. The Vehicle was "Sold As is, without any Warranty", I have attached documents showing the repairs and Buyer's Order that was mutually signed by both parties.Customer Answer

Personal check was only accepted by Mr. ***** if the delivery was taken 5 days later. Mr. **** wanted to hold the vehicle for 5 days, so I dont find the oil leak and put a stop payment on the check. Both forms of payments (Cashier/Personal Check) were in his favor to get paid first, before the oil leak could be discovered.
I wanted to take delivery the same day and Mr. **** would only accept Cashier Check. eDouments were sent to me on March 26, and I signed and the same evening. The Cashier Check was delivered and I picked up the vehicle on the same day (March 27). Just for the record, I did not purchase the vehicle on March 24.
I am not aware, if Mr. **** mechanic is reputable or not, but one thing am sure is that he is his FIXER.I visited his mechanic, which is located less than a mile from his use car showroom. As per the mechanic, left and right valve cover gasket oil leaks are very common and he was fully aware that I was talking about the LR4 from Classic Car Sales. He said, I can hire him to fix the oil leak issues. My guess is that he had the knowledge of the gasket leaks, and since ******* would not fix it, he now wanted the business from me.
Mr. **** stated Mr. ***** knew quite well that the vehicle did not have any indication of the Valve Covers gasket leaking oil. How would I know? I am not a mechanic. I only did one test drive in his presence and it lasted less than 10 minutes.
The fact is that the vehicle did had left and right valve cover gasket oil leaks and other related leaking gaskets were also replaced. Spark plug tubes and gaskets were also leaking and repacked.Detailed work order from H&******** was submitted earlier.
As I mentioned at the initial submitted complainant, Mr. **** was willing to pay for the parts only. No mention of any payment, after he received the final bill. Any comment on it Mr. ****?

These were the conversations between Mr. ***** and me, I had agreed to pay for the parts initially to avoid Mr. ***** calling me names, false accusations and disrespecting me. I also attached the * & K Invoice he sent over to me, which was $1600.00, and parts were about $261.28.
*****: I have taken 2016 LR4 to my mechanic and upon opening the bottom plate, large amount of oil leaked was noticed all around the engine. The mechanic had to clean the engine to diagnose the root cause of this leak. After driving for additional 3 days, it was discovered to be much much bigger issue of the oil leak. The oil leak is coming from valve cover gaskets and spark plugs tubes and possible from other places too. The initial estimate is about $1600 and possibly be more.
*ow are you planning to resolve this issue? This sale was deceptive in nature from the start.****: Good morning, *****, the Valve Gasket was not leaking on the LR4, the Explosion of the Oil Filer *ousing Gasket dumped a huge amount of inside the engine chamber dripping down into the bottom cover. My mechanic never said the Valve cover was leaking oil. The oil leak was never an issue for the duration of time I drove it. If your mechanic is suggesting that the Valve cover has a leak, it may be odd considering that my mechanic showed me the caused of the leak in the first place.

It is not right for you to use the word "Deceptive", indirectly and falsely accusing me, I have a greater respect for you and never thought you will falsefully accuse me when the sale was made in good faith.*****: Good Evening ****,
Sorry, for using the word in the heat of the moment. The fact is that, I have received the attached estimate from the mechanic for valve gasket and spark plugs tube seal.
If you would have allowed your mechanic to also clean the spilled/leaking oil, they would have found the same issue.
Btw, I was not able to open the attachment you sent.****: Good morning, if your mechanic is saying that you need valve cover gaskets and seals, the most I am able to do at this time is provide you with the (Parts) gaskets and seals OR pay you for the parts only as estimated by your mechanic without labor. The vehicle was Sold as Is without any Warranty, but my willingness is in good faith.

Following is rest of the conversation to date, between Mr. **** **** and me. I did provide Mr. **** the estimate from the ********** of Dallas dealership for $8,210, which was for the engine oil leak. Also, the final repair bill from my mechanic (H&K Motors), which was for $3,092 (Labor: $1,463 and Parts $1,504).Attached is the H&K Motors final bill, which was also sent earlier to Mr.****:

*****:
Good Morning, as you know that repairs of LR is very costly and this estimate is very reasonable. If the issue was discovered months after, you would not have even heard from me. This issue was reported within less than 2 days.
Thanks for the offer, but I think at least 50% of the cost would be reasonable.
Regards
*****:
FYI,LR Dallas estimate is $8210 with additional leak at timing covers
Also, my mechanic estimate may go higher too

Mr.**** **** (Owner) of Classic Cars Sales LLC,
I submitted the request/proposal to you on 4/09/2025, but there is no response from you.
The oil leak work was completed by H&******** and the final bill is attached. Please respond by 5pm Tuesday the April 29th. No response from you will be considered that you are not willing to negotiate. This will allow me to move forward with other appropriate actions.
Sincerely,
***** Moten
PS: Per the Mechanic, there was no indication of oil leak from the oil filter,as top of the engine and inside hood/fire shield was clean and none sign of any oil. The oil on bottom of the engine and dripping was from left and right valve cover gaskets and other seals as listed on the work order.
****:
Hello Mr. ******* you are free to work on your car to any level of your satisfaction, but we are not responsible for any performed repairs to your vehicle. The Vehicle does not come with any Warranty; Sold as Is" we did replace the Oil Filter Housing gasket and Oil Changed prior to delivery. The only area with any oil leak before delivery as indicated by ************** was the oil Filter Housing that was fixed before delivery.Customer Answer
