Bought a black label rod. 2 years old it snaps in half on section 2. *** said send pictures of the broken piece and they would decide if it was a defect. Sent pictures and then called them after a day. The guy said it was my fault and he could tell because of the splintered shaft. I said it has no splinters , it snapped clean. He then said oh I was thinking of another one and proceeded to say because of the way it broke smoothly it was definitely my fault but would send a replacement piece for $36. Imagine that. All this from a cell picture. Have read several bad reviews about the warranty. Will spend the extra $ and go with Orvis. Definitely

Purchased a TFO bass cranking rod. First time out the rod brakes on a 1 1/2 bass. Notify TFO as the rod is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. TFO takes 2 weeks to get back to me after first email. After I return the email then nothing. Email again and finally I get a email back saying can I send pictures of the rod. Great Im thinking I can get the ball rolling. Nope sent them pictures and I was informed it was not a defect in the build process. So they are basically saying I broke the rod sorry nothing we can do. But if I send them $140 they can send another rod plus shipping. No thanks. This company is horrible to deal with and the warranty is a scam. Do not deal with or buy from this company!!

I received the *** Black Label combo with a broken tip, I contacted the company and received a very quick response from a guy named *** who's a "Service and Repair Associate" at TFO. The email was likely sent after hours, so I appreciated the attentiveness. Temple Fork Outfitters offered to send me a replacement section at no cost to me.

I recently had a very bad experience with TFO over their advertised no-fault lifetime warranty. I was very displeased with the way it was handled and I hope others have had a better experience. I actually had another discontinued rod break several years ago and it was replaced with the newest most comparable model. I was very satisfied, but not this time. I had a discontinued rod break while on a fishing trip out of state. I take very good care of my equipment and this rod was never abused or even overused. I use it on an annual trip for about 2 days a year. I contacted TFO customer service and explained my issue. I was not looking for a complete replacement of the rod or an upgrade either. I was just inquiring about the #2 section of the rod in question. They actually had the part in stock (for which I was very grateful). I am assuming I was extremely lucky that they would still have this part. I just assumed that the part would be covered under this warranty. The part was $42 plus $10 shipping, so the money aspect was no big deal. It was more of not honoring their no-fault warranty that upset me the most. Just my two cents and they may need to review this warranty and make some additional changes. What exactly is a no-fault lifetime supposed to mean anymore??
