Animal rescue kingdom (not for profit?) organization that drives dogs to the Pacific Northwest east coast. Red flags went up immediately. I got very little information about the dog I was interested in and was told if I wanted to pre-adopt for $600 I could get more information. I spoke to Carlos twice on the phone and was able to get a little information. I preadopted the dog, There was no meet and greet, and I was out the door. I took the dog to my . I text Carlos while at the vet, he said let me know how the results come back I’m curious because she came in with another dog. I told him she Giardia, plaque on all of her front teeth, loose and missing teeth, luxated patella is in both knees. I am confused because I asked about all of this and was assured she was healthy. I advised that my other dogs also had to be treated and asked if there was any possibility to get a portion of the $600 back to help pay for these medical costs. her dental cleaning and extraction will cost $600-$800, and her knees will be around $1500 apiece could be more.
I asked what my $600 paid for since dogs was spayed prior to coming into the rescues possession. It has been customary at least here in Or. that rescues get animals tested and have dentals done on the dogs and any health issues discussed.
In the contract that is emailed to potential adopters it states that if ARK finds an adopter isn’t taking care of an animal they can take it back at any point at the adopters expense and can sue said adopter for up to $2000, This is curious considering they are making $600 per dog, and so not even get basic needs met. They drove up in a van with around I think 50 dogs on April 15 and had to of known that some of them could’ve been sick since none of them have been tested. They’re driving these animals all over the country. I was not the only person who has another dog in the home. This is complete negligence on the part of this rescue.
