I dropped my Scag commercial mower off for repairs at the 11810 Sam Houston Parkway West location on June 18th, 2024. The mower would bog down when engaged for mowing. Jose in service got back to me in a few days and said the problem was the voltage regulator. After excuse number one for delay, "they shipped the wrong part". he told me that wasn't the problem and said now they felt it was the clutch. So, after a couple of weeks of additional excuses for delay, again, "they shipped the wrong part" and "UPS failed to deliver", they got that part and installed it. On July 13th Jose informed me the problem was fixed. When I picked up the mower it seemed somewhat improved, but I couldn't put it under a load with no grass to mow in their parking lot. So, I took it thinking it was fixed. The charges were $589.92 which Jose said was for parts only which is nonsense. Anyway, I got it home and it wasn't repaired at all. I called Jose and told him I wanted a refund, and he said I could bring it back. I told him I now lacked confidence in them fixing the problem and didn't want to bring it back for another round of parts changing. I then set about fixing it myself. In the process I made a phone call to a local small engine repair shop. The receptionist asked me a few questions and within 5 minutes diagnosed the problem. She said perhaps it was only running on one cylinder. So, after a $6.00 spark plug change the mower was fixed. Shameful that a receptionist in a repair shop has more practical knowledge than Landsdowne Moody's mechanics. I subsequently went by and visited Jose Jimenez (the store manager) on August 29th after having left several unanswered phone messages to request some type of refund. He denied my request. I don't expect Landsdowne Moody to work for free but, when they are charging for their services, I expect them to be capable which in this case they were not.
