Gulf Coast Windows did not honor its Lifetime Warranty for replacement of defective products. Details are in attached documentation. Amount originally paid was $26,784. I had to pay another company $15,314 to replace warranty-covered windows. During the 12-months of my trying to get replacement windows under the warranty, *** employees rebuffed, dodged and lied to me, culminating in their refusal to let me speak, email or meet with the owner, *** *****.Business Response

Gulf Coast Windows(GCW) installed 42 windows in our home May-June 2018 with a lifetime warranty. In Feb of 2024 we began to have leaks in several windows during normal rains and severe leakage during Hurricane ***** and the Derecho. I have been calling *** Service Manager *** every week or so to get repairs and wrote their owner *** ***** with details of my issues and photos in August 2024. *** claims he lacks resources and expertise to address our leaky windows over and over and over. *** continues to stall on repairs, sending one unprepared tech out once or twice who never has the proper tools and equipment to diagnose/ repair our problems. No ladder, misordered replacement parts, no assistant to do a task, I feel we are being delayed delayed delayed in getting repairs while the leaks damage the interior of our home and my frustration builds. I have attempted to escalate my claims to **** boss ******* and to *** ***** but they will not speak with me nor did I get any response to my registered letter outlining these issues. I have been professional and patient with GCW but am getting nowhere I need the BBBs help please.Business Response

Regards,
Good morning I wanted to wait for the results of the service visit by gulf coast windows(GCW)on 3/20 and 3/21 before my reply.
1. GCW used the scaffold one of my other contractors had erected to water test 6 windows on the 4th floor of my home. As an aside GCW has refused to spend the $$ to put up their own scaffold or rent a manlift to do this test. They repeatedly told me this with no solution! Luckily I talked my painting contractor into them borrowing the scaffold. I had to assist the one window tech GCW sent out. Without my help the poor man could not have done the job effectively.
2. All six large casement windows installed by GCW leaked badly in the test. GCW has temporarily caulked all the casement windows shut to keep them from leaking and prevent damage to the interior of our home for now. These are only 6 of the 8 windows that have leaked in our home, others are lower to the ground and accessible. Repairs have been made to the other 2 windows well see if they leak or not.
3. I am now about 10 days waiting to see what GCW is going to do to replace/repair these 6 windows on the top floor of our home. Remember these leaks were reported after ***** last July so we are already 10 months getting to this stage.
I remain frustrated and upset by this vendors delay tactics.

It has been 10 months since I gave this company $10000 for my window order on 12/26/2023 . The salesman said delivery was 6-8 weeks out but could be 12 weeks due to COVID affect on supply chain. The installer measured on 1/5/2024 so clock started then. Several follow up texts and calls to them and on 3/27/24 I was told factory stated the windows were still 6 weeks out because of the curve (eyebrow) in the top of 2 of them. The two windows are considered 6 total due to configuration. Phone calls normally are not answered so I resort to calling from different numbers. The same story is told each time if they respond at all. June 3rd I called from my work phone and it was sent to their service. The promised call back did not happen that day or the next. My spouse called the 3rd day and was told the individual was on vacation she needed to talk to. They would return on 6/12/2024. No call received that week. 6/17/2024 she called office again and finally got an answer that the windows were in and the installer would call to set up install which did happen. They are to be installed next week 6/***** spouse did call the sales guy who didnt have her name or number asking about process, told typically delivered and installed in 6-8 weeks. In asking questions about the order with the installer it seems they lost our order and he had to go in several times to line out which windows were what size and placement. It seems like the company was playing games not truthful. 6/25 window installer put in 8 of the 14 windows. The other 6 did not fit. He verified measurements on the other 6 which he had in his job book and told the office the measurements again. Many calls have been made since July. October 16th I spoke with ****** in the office and he told me he would leave a message for the office and operations manager to get back to me. No call back so on 10/21 at 4 pm I called the answering service picked up, no message left. I dont have TDI insp.Customer Answer

The window company should be able to work with the manufacturer to determine a timeline to receive the 2 windows (6 actual pieces) at their office. Their open timeframe could put me past the 12 month period of resolution allowed by the BBB.

It is 12/3/2024 and I still do not have a timeline of when the last six windows will be received. I would like to speak directly to the owner of the company to understand why it has taken them a year to attempt to complete this job.Their operations department did not give me any information other than they had to order the windows. The order should have been placed when they found out they had the wrong windows for my job. They were onsite June *****th and remeasured on June 27th confirming the installers original measurements he submitted to the company.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]The windows were installed on January 2, 2025 and were identified as the wrong design as the first one was put into place. Both existing windows had already been removed so the new ones had to be put in. The install required the installer to add excess trim at the top and sides outside. There was at least 3 inches of difference in the height of the windows. The eyebrow side legs are too long and the center piece is at approximately 5 feet of height. This is the level at which any blinds would be installed and would allow persons outside of the home to still see in. The eyebrow looks like the original design which was rejected and was verified to be the wrong measurements by the installer. We had to accept the install of the new windows because they had already removed the windows in both rooms which have the wrong design.
The installer caulked the outside of the windows to weatherproof them but did not finish any trim work on the inside. The inside of my home has wood trim all the way around the window ledge inset and any additional caulking on the inside would not meet the previous aesthetics of the home.
I called the company when I noticed the issue and the installer talked with office on the 2nd. He did remeasure the openings to verify the original dimensions of the old windows. I called the company a second time the following week on 1/7/2025 when i had not heard from them. I did this to check on what the resolution would be. They have yet to give me a response on what they are going to do to rectify the issue. I called on Monday Jan 27, 2025 and was told the Operations Manager would call me back. No follow up and no call has been received on the subject of the wrong windows.
I wish to get this issue rectified as we started the Process Dec 26, 2023 with my down payment and placement of order.

We ordered windows from Gulf Coast Windows last October- 10/25/23. We were told of a Feb. delivery date. They were brought out in March. Once viewing the windows, my husband realized they were not the windows we ordered with the gridlines. They were just different than our order form. They did not install. We have been trying to get these windows installed since March. We call and get the run around of "we don't know when they'll be ready", "I am the supervisor and don't have answers for you", and were even given installation date of August. STILL NO WINDOWS. We have since sold our home, but will still be paying for the windows as per our contract. The new owners are getting the same type of run around. They were told yesterday that they could install the windows with no gridlines like they tried to install in March.Business Response

Initial measurement and agreement signed on January 17th 2024 for $41,683.00 to ***lace all windows in my home.June 10th 2024 First day of installation I had to remove all the blinds/window coverings as it was not correctly written in the contract and installers would not complete the removal of them. This also resulted in them not putting them back in upon completion of the job. Roughly 20 weeks after agreement was reached and measurements completed.June 11th notified by installers that 2 of the windows were made incorrectly. They could not locate a custom octagon window at the warehouse as well. 1 of the 3 is broken and the reason for starting the process of getting new windows. Screen on one of the windows was the incorrect size. Knee of installer damaged the sheetrock in room upstairs. No coating on downstairs bathroom window which could have been due to miscommunication.August 12th asked for an update from sales *** and no response from office staff on an ETA for remaining windows or what happened with getting a coating on the windows that are in bathrooms.September 5th After not getting a response to emails and phone calls to the office I physically visited the office of Gulf Coast Windows. Was told I would be getting a call the next day.September 6th I did not get any communication regarding the windows we are missing or the coating on the two windows.September 10th finally made contact with office after I called them and told the company would have to come out of pocket for the window coatings since the bathroom window had already been ordered or installed and they are not willing to do that. I asked for a solution to the issues and to call me back. Was told a possible delivery date of the windows is 9/26 September 16th have still not heard back in regards to a solution or confirmed delivery time of windows and screen that were wrong or still missing.32 Weeks from initial agreement and job is still not complete.Business Response

As mentioned previously the work has been finalized already and it does not surprise me. The lack of communication from Gulf Coast Windows to me has been nonexistent for a project that took 14 months to complete where I had to ask for information. The two bathroom windows and two large backyard windows should have been complimentary due to the issues in this process.

Gulf Coast Windows issued a Lifetime Warranty for these windows. Now they say the windows are no longer available and they can only supply a different window type (the existing windowshave internal blinds). It is not acceptable to replace one window on the front of the house with a non-matching type, and leave all others as were originally installed. We require all the street-facing windows to be identical.

We signed a contract for the purchase of windows on 7/31/2023 and placed a $4,500.00 down payment. As the contract states, we cancelled during the 3 day window by sending a picture text of signed cancellation notice to salesman as he requested. 5 weeks later and we are still trying to get full refund on the down payment. They informed us today 9/11/2023 that they will refund and charge a $300 transaction fee. This is an invented obnoxious fee. The contract's notice of cancellation, clearly states there are no penalties or obligations. There is no mention of cancellation fees. And the cancellation notice clearly states they would refund withing 10 days and we are still waiting. In the interim we contacted the company's customer service over 10 times, left messages and they never responded. The salesman did respond but he was ineffective and embarrassed. At this time, we request full refund from Gulf Coast windows.Business Response

Gulf coast windows replaced 4 double hung windows in 2016 with lifetime warranty. Top half of the windows fogged. A technician came in August 2022 and took measurements for replacement. I waited 6 months for new parts. A new technician came february 2023 with only one single hung window that does not fit . It is very obvious that the first technician did not know what he was doing. He did not even realize that 4 windows need to be changed. the new technician took new measurements and I am still waiting for more than 3 months. I don't think that they are serious about replacing the windows per warranty.Business Response

As we are doing everything in our power to make
this right for our client.
ORDERING PROCESS IN PLACE.
Gulf Coast Windows ordered the window for
our client, due to a seal failure. Window arrived on 10/01/22 with wrong grids pattern/special
window.
This order for this Window kept going on back
order because grids issue- from Manufacturer. The Pandemic has placed many
companies behind on their ordering. This
is one of those orders. We are awaiting
an ETA, which- at this time - we still do not have.
We should hear back from the Manufacturer by
next week. We apologize for the delay on
this particular order. We will do everything we can to make our customer happy.Gulf Coast Windows

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.
They are saying that they get the windows back in October 2022 the first time. How come I did not hear back till January 2023 ?Now they say on that response that we will hear about estimated time for arrival of new windows in 1-2 weeks. I called their office on 5/18. They said that they don’t know when they are going to hear about that. They took the measurements in last February. Very frustrating to deal with this company. My windows are fogged and looks embarrassing.

I have left no fewer than 4 phone messages and NO one returns my call. The windows they installed have failed and caused an estimated $16,00.00 dollars worth of water damage to my home - they have agreed to replace the windows over 6 months ago and have yet to advise me that they have them, which I found out they do have and I need an installation date and a date for their insurance adjuster to settle the damage so I can get the repairs done - at this point we are a risk for health issues from MOLD. I need the owner to call me at 832 *** ****Business Response

Regards,
Please be advised that the necessary repairs have not been completed; they are scheduled for January 6 and then Gulf Coast Windows will have to have their insurance company assess the extensive damage to my home caused by their faulty windows. Than and only then can this matter be resolved and my complaint removed from BBBBusiness Response

Their insurance company only partially paid for the damages and I still am waiting for them to schedule a new inspection by Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) which is required since these replacement windows are not the same as the original ones. I cant even get them to provide me with the Specifications sheet for these windows that show they comply with TWIA requirements
