On Sept 17th 2024 I paid an $1,882 deposit (50%) for a basketball goal installation to **** owner of Assemblies Done Right. On the 25th **** sent two men to install the goal. I was surprised because it was my understanding **** himself would be there considering we spent a good deal of time on the phone making sure the location of the wall mount goal would be safe and I employed him because he convinced me of his experience. His guys installed the goal but I had to leave before they were finished so I decided to leave a check for the remaining balance with them. The amount was supposed to be $1,882 but his worker gave me an $800 bill so I requested to speak with his boss I figured there was a mistake I didnt want to underpay. Once **** was on the phone without allowing me to explain he talked over me demanding I pay what was on the bill so I said ok. Next day **** text me realizing their mistake and I told him not to worry I would pay the balance but that I wanted to atleast check the goal before. Upon checking the installation we noticed scratches on the glass backboard, the height adjustment wasn't working, the rim was extremely bouncy similar to a rim at the fair or six flags but most concerning was that the goal was very wobbly & didn't seem securely installed. I expressed my concerns to **** informing him I sent him pics & videos of ********** seemed to be impatient demanding that I pay the balance or he was going to come take the goal back. I told him I had no intentions of not paying & instead of acknowledging the damage to goal etc he sharply offered a refund. So that Saturday his guys came back and as they were taking the goal down I attempted to contact **** for refund but couldnt reach him. Once they had the goal loaded up I was given two checks and I noticed that I was being charged $1,000 for installation and un-installation which was not explained to me when I was offered refund. **** insulted me numerous times when I attempted to resolve this matter.

We have been in business many years. Every now and then dealing with the public you run into a difficult customer. We did everything we were suppose to do, using one of the best wall mounted basketball goals made by First Team Sports. The customer was sent the original quote by text. He knew how much the deposit was and how much the remaining balance would be. When he told me, he lived 140 miles away, I told him there would be an additional fee of $200 for the round trip. He agreed to this. He paid a portion of the down payment not the whole thing. We did the job even reinforcing the wall where he wanted the hoop mounted. There was nothing wrong with the installation or the equipment. When I tried to get paid the remaining balance, Mr. **** found one complaint after another. I asked for pictures of the scratches that he complained about, he never sent them. He had several other issues which were ridiculous, however I discussed each one with Mr. **** and asked him to complete payment. I got the feeling that he was trying to get me to discount the goal before he made final payment, when he saw I was not going to do that, he requested a refund. I agreed to refund on the goal, there was nothing wrong with it or the installation so I didn't mind refunding the portion of the goal from his deposit, but I did feel the installation and the 2 round trips should not have been at our expense because Mr. **** didn't get his way and backed out on our deal. The basketball goal was a special order and non returnable and I'm am stuck with it myself. The installation was $600 and the 2 trip charges were $400. He stated the incorrect amount in the above complaint. We only kept $1000 and refined the remainder of his deposit by check which he cashed.

I am rejecting this response because:

    1. Just because you have been in business "many years" doesn't prove you have been honest in your dealings. You don't get to just call me a difficult customer. This is further proof that **** continues to deflect and insult.

    2. The refund was 100% not my idea. **** was getting frustrated because I had complaints about the goal and concerns about the installation and rather than taking the time to try to resolve it he threatened to come take the goal back and then offered a refund. I eventually accepted the refund. He never informed me that it was not a full refund at all. I did not know he would be still be charging me $1,000 until after his company had removed the goal and had it in their truck. If you look at the screenshot of our text messages on Sat. Sept 28th attached the day they came to uninstall the goal **** would not respond to my messages. To offer a refund then come take the product back and only refund partially is nothing other than deceptive.

I am rejecting this response because:

I did not back out on the deal. I was unhappy with the quality of product and the install and was offered a refund only to be tricked into giving the goal back with only a partial refund.
