Went to Livingston Hearing in ********** 2-3 years ago. Bought new aides for $4,000; Dr. ***** said no insurance help was available though we had received it in the past. She gave us 1 year warranty; pushed additional insurance after the year expired.Under 2 years, a part had to be replaced. $146 and Dr. ***** reminded us ***** times that if we had bought insurance (way more) that we wouldn't be paying anything. She was rude and insulting when we arrived 15 minutes early, claiming we were 15 minutes late. It was later determined that we were in fact 15 minutes early and she never apologized.I complained to Livingston Hearing and received a full refund.***** months later, we decided to buy new hearing aides from a new source. They quoted us $2,300 for the same product with a ***** year warranty, not one, with support from insurance.

My name is Dr. ****** *******,and I am the Director of Audiology for Livingston Hearing Aid Center (LHAC). I am in receipt of your review dated May 4. 2025. Upon receipt of this correspondence,I requested the complainants husbands medical chart and communicated with his local office in ********************************** where he was seen for a hearing aid consultation and delivery, as well as subsequent follow up care.

It is my understanding after reviewing the review posted with BBB, the patients chart and speaking with the local office, that the patients spouse's frustrations are related to having to pay for an out-of-warranty repair. Furthermore, it appears that the complainant is also upset by the fact that they were able to purchase the exact same hearing aid(s)2 years later for a cheaper price.

I am also aware of the patients complaint stating that their provider was rude and insulting. We strive to provide all our patients with an outstanding experience, and I sincerely apologize that the providers tone and demeanor may have portrayed otherwise. Moreover, I am thankful for the feedback as it allows us the opportunity to get better and ultimately provide better experiences for our patients.

Livingston Hearing Aid Center is a second-generation family-owned company that was founded in 1953 and currently has over 100 locations across Texas, **********, ********, *******, and *********Livingstons mission is to enrich life through better hearing and to serve better than anyone. For this reason, I take this one-star review very seriously.

Upon reviewing the patients medical chart, I discovered that the patient was made aware of the warranty period and its expiration date as indicated by a signed Delivery Checklistwhich indicates the warranty period as well as the details of the 45-day money back guarantee. Hearing aid manufacturers charge for hearing aid repairs anytime the hearing aid is out of warranty, which was the case when we repaired the hearing aid referenced in this review. The cost to repair the out-of-warranty hearing aid was $146, which was later refunded to the patient after learning of their perceived less than ideal experience with our office.

The complainant also indicated that they were able to purchase the exact same hearing aid that they purchased at Livingston from another provider for a cheaper price using an insurance benefit. Considering the length of time that elapsed between purchases, a decrease in price is not surprising to me. When the patient purchased hearing aids from our office in January 2023, he received entry level Phonak Audeo L30-R hearing aids, which were the most current/recently released product from ****** at the time of service. Since the patients purchase with our office in January 2023,****** has released new and improved technology and as a result, lowered the cost of this now previous generation product, a practice that is very common across industries in todays marketplace. In addition, it also appears based on my review of the patients chart that his insurance did not have a hearing aid benefit or coverage for hearing aids with our practice at the time of his purchase.

Furthermore, it also appears that the complainant feels that we overcharged her husband for hearing aids since he was he able to purchase the exact same hearing aids for a cheaper price several years later, however, this could not be further from the truth. Our cost on the same product has also decreased significantly over the past few years based on the availability of new products and the decreased price point from the hearing aid manufacturer. In addition, the purchase price for the hearing aids purchased at Livingston also included lifetime service and aftercare, which is uncommon in most hearing healthcare practices today. While I do not know the specifics of the purchase agreement of the hearing aid(s) that were purchased from another provider, it is possible that said purchase did not include lifetime service and aftercare, which could also contribute to the differences among price.

Thank you for your time and attention in this matter. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

      Regards,

I bought my hearing aids through Livingston at *********************************, **.Suggest you start by reading the law suit last year against Livingston hearing aids.1st appt. Stood waiting outside office with another customer and fed ex delivery man who suggested I go to ******* or Amazon as their service was superior. I laughed but was soon to rethink what he said. I left after 20 min. 2nd appt. On Fri. Was cancelled by tech who said something had come up.3rd appt. Saw audiologist who said I would get service for free first year, then it would cost but dont worrythe fees are almost always $65.4th appt. Waited in line at receptionists counter while another customer was calling out and knocking on doors. Waited 10 min till **** appeared.Tech came out after 20 min of helping another customer and getting my ********************** aids to tell me the receiver did not work. Why wasnt I notified since they had Friday-Monday, Tuesday and Wed to check and notify me.5th appt. Received hearing aids and they were given first temporary sound adjustment. Signed agreementseveral pages and was told service fees would begin second year and they would start at $65 and go up from there. That statement is not the exactly same that the audiologist said.6th appt. Cancelled an hour before I was to ********. For 2nd sound up adjustment. She was sick this Monday. Are you getting the picture?Next appt is Wednesday at noon. I can hardly wait.
