Triple G Plumbing was hired by Generator Superstore to install my house generator. Recently I noticed my gas bill going up and contacted Atmos Energy. They came out and checked my gas line. There was a large leak coming from the gas line that Triple G Plumbing had connected to my main gas line to install my generator. Apparently the gas line that was installed was not wrapped for burying and it rusted and was leaking profusely, as well as most of the fittings. The gas company rep told me that they apparently were not tightened. The Atmos rep showed my with his gas sensor that it was leaking a lot. My gas was shut off for 3 days to fix the leak. The appropriate line was installed by another company. Now I am worried about the line going to my generator because it looks like the same kind of pipe that was leaking at my main gas line. It has been a little over 2 yrs and the gas company said that if they had used the right pipe it would not have leaked this soon.

I have not heard from Triple G Plumbing nor received any correspondence.

      Business Response

We installed Ms. Boswell's generator in March of 2022.  She first contacted our office on January 2, 2025, saying that she had Atmos tell her she had a gas leak, and she had to pay a plumber to fix it and wanted to be reimbursed for the repair.

The owner called her and asked her some questions regarding the leak and Ms. Boswell said it had been repaired by Atmos on April 1, 2022. He informed Ms. Boswell that he spoke with the plumber who fixed her leak, and the plumber said it was the supply line into the house not anything to the generator.  The gas line that had the leak on the generator was upgraded by the gas company to a 2PSI system and the gas company does have to turn gas on to the generator and bleed off the air.  It was probably left little loose by them.

The owner did have an issue with the conflicting information from Ms Boswell.  The leak that Atmos traced back was fixed by them on April 1, 2022 per text and phone conversations.  See attached.  Also, the plumber that sent us an invoice says he repaired the leak on January 2, 2025, according to his invoice.  We later found out in speaking with him he is a relative.

She is not happy about any response we have had with her.  She has been to the Generator Supercenter office and spoke with them and they basically told her the same thing.

I am rejecting this response because:   Atmos did not did not speak to the plumber when he found the leak on the fittings going into the generator in March 2022. The picture he posted here is one I sent to him to complain about the installation on January 2, 2025 that was sent to me by Atmos. Atmos tightened that fitting but I wish he had checked the fittings on the other side of the house and the other fittings on the side of the house going to the generator. Those fittings going to the generator need to be checked, as I have not had someone to look at them.

My complaint on this is where Triple G hooked on to my main gas line. The pipe he used rusted due to not being wrapped and was leaking underground. They are supposed to be wrapped if they are buried, which he did not do. If you look at the pictures of the side of the house where he hooked on to my main line, I have circled the fittings above the ground and they were all loose when the leak was found by Atmos. Atmos did no repairs for me other than tightening the fitting in 2022 that was left loose by Triple G and it was not the one used to bleed the line. In hindsight, I should have had the whole installation checked but I thought they were reputable if the generator company was using them. The plumber I used was not related to me, which was on his statement.

The leaks I had repaired are on the side of the house opposite where the generator is located. All leaks are circled that are fittings left loose by Triple G Plumbing, as well as where he accessed the main line to my house. I did not smell gas when I was outside due to the large leaks being underground in the pipe that he did not wrap, which is required required by law. The smell of gas was really strong when Atmos dug the line up.  The leaks on this line is by my air conditioner, right outside my grandson's bedroom, next to the patio where the grill is. Atmos rep pointed out that this could have been a serious accident due to the size of the leak. It could have exploded. He is pointing out that the leaks to the main line of the house, which is where HE hooked on to my gas line. All pictures are of work done by Triple G Plumbing. He installed lines on the main gas line as well as the generator. They were at two different areas as my generator is quite some distance from the main gas line.

Triple G Plumbing continues to focus on the side of the house where the generator is, which is some distance from where he accessed my main gas line to the house. The cost to hook gas to my generator was expensive and Generator Superstore should have used someone who is more reliable. I am going to have to check the line going to the generator on the opposite side of the house. I am hoping it is safe.

Triple G Plumbing was rude in the texts sent to me, which he deleted, but he kept the one I sent of the line going to the generator. NOBODY, especially a business, should be so disrespectful and rude in their communications about a job they did. If he would have come, looked at this issue and made it good, I would have never filed a complaint against him. That is why he deleted his texts. He knew it was wrong.
