    I bought an ML 830 Laser from this company several years ago and am quite happy with it's performance. The display is so weak now that it is hard to read, but I can live with that. My concern is that the battery seems to be at the end of it's life - doesn't hold a charge for any amount of time, and all I want is to know how to change it (it is not at ALL obvious & I am an electronic technician), but my queries to the company have been ignored, and on a $6,000.00 device I think this is reprehensible!

    Good morning, 

    Mr. Grbich contacted us because he needs the battery replaced in the laser he owns. He asked if he could replace the battery himself. On page 12 of the Operating Guide the accompanies each laser sold, you will see the following: "No maintenance should be carried out by users of the ML830(R) Smart Laser. Refer any questions about service at 713-520-0668 or email at [email protected]." We are FDA cleared and approved and we MUST follow the guidelines set by the FDA. The customer says they cannot afford to send their laser in for repair. Unfortunately, that is something that is out of our control and we should not be negatively affected by this. The customer is more than welcome to send their laser in for repair at any time and we will gladly get it to our technician for an evaluation report.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 23388393, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  



    [Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.] Thank you for your efforts. The response I would have hoped for is for Micicrolight to accept that they should have advised PRIOR to purchasing, that even something as simple as a battery change can't be done by the purchaser, and that the unit would have to be sent back for a replacement battery and "recalibration charges" on a semi regular basis, at the CONSIDERABLE cost of US$100.00 ($136.98 Canadian) PLUS shipping costs each time.
    Having NOT informed me, I would expect them to front up and do the replacement etc for FREE, while I would be required to pay for shipping only.
