On Feb 4, 2023 we paid ***** Baker of Pearland, TX *********************************************** Swankywood Designs, Secretary Of State file no **********) $649.49 by Discover Card to make a custom table which still has not been started. In June, my questions regarding start date went unanswered despite elusive texting back to me from either ***** or *****. By Sept 20, the plans were modified, and on Sept 21 we paid an additional $515.50 This time, ***** would not accept any credit cards, insisting on a payment we were not familiar with, possibly Zelle. We ended up paying in cash. This payment obligated ***** to start work immediately and he told us it would start that weekend, and the table would be delivered on the following Thurs. When this did not happen, I messaged and learned the drawer rails were on back order. Despite my asking more than once, ***** never texted back the date they would be in. When I expressed urgency on Nov 16, 17 due to our current table breaking at the holiday time, ***** ignored my communications about that. Elusive, non-informational texting occurred throughout Oct and Nov and by Mon Dec 4, we told ***** we wanted our money back by Th Dec 7. Even this did not prompt him to mention making the table. Again, he ignored some of our texts and gave useless responses to others as we attempted to work details on return of our $1164.99. My last contact with him was Dec 4; I FB messaged we were available for a call he promised. Despite being active on FB around the time of the msg, he never texted or called back.***** has made no attempt to resolve the problem of his refusal to deliver a table after ten months and two significant payments to do so, or return our money. He has, however, required $1165 with part of it in cash. Communication with him is extremely frustrating and completely unproductive. We strongly suspect he never planned to make the table at all, at least in September at the cash payment, and is only using us to defraud us of over $1150.

My name is ***** Baker and I reside in ***********.  I have a woodworking side business, called Baker & Co.  I have never conducted any business in the ******* area regarding woodwork.  I have received several emails and messages from individuals from the ******* area with similar stories.  Please note that this is not me or any affiliation with my company.

This invoice has already been submitted at the time the complaint was initially started.  There are four uploaded files from when I  made the complaint, and this is one of them.  I also have screenshots of texts that were exchanged between ***** and us.  I am including some of them.  I also have our Discover Card list of purchases from Feb 4, 2023 and you can see Baker & Co listed there.  However, I believe our entire credit card number is also listed on his line item and I do not want that number to get out.  I have scratched out that number.  I was about to include it in the documents but I am afraid someone will be able to erase what I have scratched out and get to the number.  If you need this receipt from Discover, I will try to put it into a Word Document and delete the number.

My name is ***** Baker.  My email, **************************************** has mistakenly been tied to the *******, ***** Baker.   I have a woodworking business called Baker & *** and am located in the *********** area.  I have never done any business in the ******** or *******, ** area.  I have no ties to ***** Baker or his business.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

This is the second time that my complaint went to ***** Baker and  not ***** Baker.  The first time, I found the correct email address for *****, and I emailed that address to you.  I have just now attached a copy of that email with ******* real address.  I am nearly sure that you would have used the address I gave you and not ******* this second time around, yet ***** is the one who responded to us (and told us the incorrect address).  So, only two possibilities here

    1.  The BBB still used ******* address which he has already told all of us is not *******, instead of the one I gave you.

    OR

    2.  ***** IS getting the email from the correct address you used, but is forwarding that to ***** so that ***** will answer it is not him.

I can vouch that ***** is actually getting the complaint, as opposed to ***** telling us he is *****, because I am communicating with ***** and checking to see if he is getting the complaint.

So, to sum, no I am not happy with the business response to the complaint because the business has not responded at all.  Instead, I am pretty sure the business is rerouting the complaint to ***** Baker of Baker and Co.  and refusing to address the complaint.  This deceptive tactic makes me even less pleased with this business.  I just want my  money back.

    Regards,

********* **** - the person who instigated this complaint.

(also, there is another complaint against ***** from earlier this year.  ***** said he received on in May, so that is probably the same one.  That complaint has not been published.  Would you be able to publish that and see if anyone was ever able to reach ***** for that complaint?  Ostensibly, that complaint ended up with *****, too, because he told me he got a BBB complaint in May for *****).
