    Called to make an appointment in June for a grandfather clock that stopped working. $150 for a tech to come out and the receptionist said that levelling and fine tuning/adjustments were included. She said 90% of the time it's just adjustments that are needed when a clock stops working. The tech gets to our house, opens up the clock, looks in it for a bit and says it needs $900 of work and to be taken into the store for parts and labor. But he said he'd knock $200 off the price and waive the $150 fee to come back out and pick it up. Well, $700 is more than what we paid for the clock, so I decided to get a second opinion. I called another clock repair man who does house calls, and he came out all the way from ********** ** to come look at it. He said he'd come out for $150 and that included any parts necessary. Turns out it WAS some of those basic adjustments that were needed, no parts were needed at all. I leave this experience feeling like a woman at a mechanic, being taken advantage of just because I'm ignorant of the intricacies of clock repair. $150 down the drain, and much more if I had just given in and had them 'fix' it.
