      ***************************** was referred to me by a mutual acquaintance who is in the upholstery business. He seemed very professional and pleasant to work with. On March 30th 2023 I retained him to have shades made and installed for my covered terrace. I paid him the full amount quoted of $35,436.53. He cashed the check on April 3rd 2023 (Documents available if needed).He carefully measured the area and returned a few weeks later to remove the existing shades and hardwear.In early summer he texted some updates about the contractor who was making the shades, who was waiting on materials he needed that were delayed from overseas.That is when his communication came to a halt for several weeks during the summer. Then he texted about several family problems and ill health and there had been no progress on the shades. All was dark again from September 4th until October 30th when he texted me again.I quote him "I went to make the final payment and pick up your shades Friday. After asking to see the product for paying they did not use the same quality and thickness vinyl as what was said to be used in the beginning. I am talking to other places today and tomorrow. I will be in touch with you by tomorrow night with a solution or get your money back to you. I apologize for this whole situation. These people took me and you for a ride due to me being a one-man band. Stay warm and I will call you tomorrow". In spite of my texting him asking him to let me know what was happening I have not heard anything from him.I am alarmed that he considers me a victim along with him because I did not pay for a "ride", I paid for the shades. I would appreciate your help with this matter. Thank you.
