      I paid for deposits and on an independent living apartment for seniors. I paid the money on 02/29/24. I was given a free week of rent ending on 03/07/24. I was scheduled to move into the apartment on 03/10/24. None of my belongings were ever on the property nor did I take physical possession. The paid a pet deposit and the animal never set foot on the property.On 03/10/24, I notified **************** I would not be renting the property after all. My retirement account has been cut by $400 per month and this makes it impossible for me to afford. I asked the company to take any expenses incurred for the prorated days ending 03/10/24. I realized my free week was up before my move in date and was sure I needed to pat the difference.There is no lease agreement for the apartment. There is a contract and it states under the move out policy that I will forfeit all deposits upon notice of move out as the apartment must be repainted and made ready for the new tenant.The apartment had been freshly remodeled and floor replaced according to management. I never moved in. They are keeping my money and charging me into April for rent. The property is already available for another tenant as I never lived there. I have no access to the 3 meals a day I paid for nor the apartment space I leased, yet I am being charged for it.I do not feel the move out policy applies as I never moved in. I need help. The additional rent they say I owe brings the total to over $4000. I cannot afford to lose the entire amount and feel taken advantage of by a policy that does not actually apply to the situation.
