      This Company truly displays the worst in customer service. I purchased a ceiling fan from this Store one month ago. I hired an electrician to install the ceiling fan only to discover that the remote control to the ceiling fan was not included. Although installed, and my old ceiling fan removed, the fan wouldn't work without a remote. I immediately called the store who stated that they did not have another remote. I returned the fan to the store and was told that the ceiling fan worked when plugged into a wall outlet. The ceiling fan didn't work--only the motor worked. The celling fan speed and light could not work without a remote. After much back and forth, and calling my electrician while in the store, the manager walked away to look for a remote. I asked for my money back and the owner accused me of not being a customer that he wanted to do business with. Are you kidding me--I'm the one out time and money? The owner shook his finger at me and told me to leave his store. After starting to call the police, the manager gave me a refund. Not only am I out a ceiling fan for my house, but I am out $150 that I paid the electrician to install the ceiling fan. Who knew that I needed to open the box, count the parts, and hire an electrician to know that I what I was purchasing included all of the parts that were needed? In my opinion, this Store is not a reputable company.

      In response to this review, when the customer first called, she said the fan did not work. This was a discontinued fan brand new in a box that was on clearance for over 50% off and was a final sale item. Despite that, we told her no problem if it does not work that we will exchange it for whatever she would like. We even went so far as to preemptively make a list of similar fans for her to look at that we had in stock. When she came in, first she said the fan doesn't work. Our policy is to do an instore test in situations like this. When tested, the motor worked. We told her the fan does indeed work and showed her the motor spinning. Then she changed her story saying it was making a clicking noise. Next, she told us that she could not control the light or the fan speed because there was no remote in the box. We are not sure why the electrician would install the fan if there was not a remote in the box and why we were not made aware of this when she came in. The manager gave her the list of fans that we put together for her to review and told her take a look at it while we went to look in the back for a remote. At this point she was talking with the owner and complaining about the manager ignoring her not helping her and leaving her. This was because he went in the back to look for a remote to try to help resolve her issue. We did not have a remote, but we did have a wall control system for the fan. She did not seem interested in getting a different fan, and we had already told her we were going to refund her money. Throughout the entire experience she was extremely agitated and confrontational. When she bad mouthed our manager, the owner told her again we are going to refund her money, and we do not want her business any longer. She then threatened to call the police because the owner was "pointing his finger" while talking to her, while our manager was already processing her refund. We pride ourselves on our customer service and have many thousands of repeat customers that have been coming here for over a quarter of a century.

      I stand my review. Reputable companies would offer an apology for inconvenience caused to its customers. Instead, Universal Lights made inaccurate statements about the product return and blamed me rather than taking responsibility for selling a product that didn't have all of the parts. I posted a REVIEW, not a COMPLAINT. The owner repeatedly shook his finger in my face and asked me to leave the store. Pointing a finger at someone is threatening. I should have called the police. Buyer beware at this Store.
