    My mother began receiving surveillance care in late 2023. Her medical oncologist was also responsible for treating my mother's chronic anemia. Before the doctor left the staff in 2024, Mom had been seen twice, and neither visit addressed her anemia. After visits with other providers to narrow down the causes of her anemia, nothing was ever done to treat her.

    Mom's cancer recurred in mid-2024, and her doctor tasked me with finding a surgeon to do a biopsy, but I had no clue where to begin. Then her doctor left the practice, and in the four months since her cancer was detected, no treatment has begun. We are still waiting to have a biopsy (TX Oncology does not do biopsies).

    We were able to get two CD-ROMs of her CT scans, but I asked for another one today to provide to the hospital that will do her biopsy later this month. I planned to take it to the hospital myself. I was told that only Patient Records can provide these discs by mail to the hospital. Time is of the essence, so an electronic record would do as well. The person I spoke with did not know if this is possible. These bureaucratic snafus are frustrating, and the quality of care has been literally non-existent. We would go elsewhere if we could, but insurance keeps us locked in. If you do have a choice, steer clear.
