Dogs are not only dogs or pets. They are family, business partners, and so much more. As a dog trainer I plan out my next dog years ahead of time. In this case it seems 2 years wasnt even enough. My deposit was placed November 2021. When I first chatted with ***** she had a litter on the way early 2022. I told her I would not be ready for that litter but would be soon after. She stated that wasnt a problem and would bump me up on the female pick list. I understand nothing is concrete with breeding but the amount of lies and false hope was like nothing Ive experienced before. To the point she was stating they were testing for breeding during a heat. These tests are NOT cheap. Then oh we decided to change our minds. Yes this dog had a chance at going to Westminster which is an amazing opportunity. This would have been fine if it hadnt been constant false hope for the last 2 years. This was the final straw of disappointment. At that time I started to pursue other breeders. In March/ April of 2023 ***** contacted me stating she was breeding THREE females all within a week. When I asked if she was raising them alone. She stated she was just rolling the dice. These are $3000 dogs not something to just breed a bunch of females at once and try to raise possibly 30 puppies alone. Especially after not having raised puppies for now 2 years. I stated I no longer was interested in a puppy. She never responded to my message. A few weeks later I asked for my deposit back. I had waited 2 years for a puppy which she was unable to be produced. She stated she was having puppies now and I could no longer have the deposit back even though she has previously stated I could. When I asked for a copy of the contract she was unable to produce it. Its right where it needs to be. Then why not send it ? She stated she had a planned c section and needed my deposit to pay for it. This is NOT my first breeder experience but it was my first horrific breeder experience.
