  Owner came out to give me a quote on re-plastering a 50 year old ****** gallon gunite pool on 09/22/23 that has been refinished once in that time so it's not an issue with myself maintaining it. The pool has major leaks in it & won't hold water or chemicals anymore so something needs to be done soon. The average life out of a gunite pool these days is 10 years at the most when I got well over 30 years from excellent maintenace & better plaster they used back then. After measuring for a quote he proceeds to try & tell me I should be the one down draining MY OWN pool 10 feet down in a giant hole in the ground spraying muriatic acid (highly deadly fumes) & scrubbing it to prep the plaster because obviously it was a job he didn't want to do himself even though I would have paid him for the work. I told him I'm a full time caregiver for my 95 almost 96 year old bedridden grandmother who's on hospice here at home & don't have time to be messing with deadly chemicals & a 50 year old pool with major issues that's why I called you in the first place! Well that made him mad apparently & he starts giving me this spill about how he works the pool business & takes care of his elderly parents too like I really cared to know about his personal life & started talking very unprofessional to a potential customer even calling me lazy! He did however offer to give me a plug & for my skimmer which wouldn't fix a thing only compound the problem because water would be circulating even less than before once filled up with water. How generous right? I wouldn't trust this ************bag (********************* I think is his name) with my bathtub much less my once prized pool that has given me a lifetime of fond & not so fond now memories. If I could give him 0 stars for unprofessionalism I would!

  At the start of the pool project, owner and his son communicated with us often and were very attentive to the job. This changed quickly and we had to rely on text and email communications, so we had a record of all communications. Our pool took over a YEAR to complete. After we gave them the first check and the hole was dug everything changed. All the problems and constant delays started. The hole was dug, steel was placed, and work stopped. Stopped long enough that a portion of the hole collapsed. The workers that showed up to do work constantly left trash in the yard. We let the owner know but nothing changed. He would text us to say someone is coming to do work on a specific day and no one would show up. A week or two later someone would finally show up to complete work, without any notification. Then work would stop again. The pool had to be re-plastered completely or partially 4-5 different times, I lost count. The first time a portion of the concrete collapsed around a drain at the deep end of the pool. Repeatedly the plaster would crack, pool would have to be drained, plaster stripped out, and pool refilled. One instance the workers drained the pool to the side of my yard and flooded my neighbors yard. They also disposed of unused plaster in the middle of my back yard and then a second time onto the property behind my fence. We notified the owner about the blower for the spa that malfunctioned and blew off the pipe it was attached to, a light that was scratched by the ********************* used to remove plaster, and a jet that was not working. These items took about 5 months to repair or replace. The light and jet was only finished when the owner wanted his final payment. If you want your pool to take OVER a YEAR to complete, re-plastered several times, constant delays, little to no communication from the owner Excel Pools in *****, **. is the company you should choose.
