I have had an AMP Smart for several years. The doorbell has been a problem for about years. I had repairs several times $35, they replaced it and I and they said another 3 years to stay with AMPSmart. The doorbell stopped 3 days after tech fixed. Since 6/20/25 the driveway camera stopped working. I called 6/24/25 to get tech to come out, it cost $99 per hour, unless signed 3 - 5 years contract. I pay them $82.99 a month plus $35 making my $117 the next 3 years. I did not get any kind of letter stating the change. This company is an unethical company from top to bottom. Over promise and undelivered. They manipulated college students to work for them only to reward them with trips when majority do not have a car and have to pay $200 a week in a rented out Airbnb to their manager if they do not meet appointment set goal weekly they are terminated and homeless. They do not pay employees as promise they change payouts contracts every month. They are partnered with Lumina Sun who also manipulate customers with installation smaller systems with higher cost then prolonged project for almost a year. I moved from the address on file. Prior to the move I have submitted a number of tickets, talk with customer service and sent certified mail requesting cancellation. I called AMP Smart Home Security almost 2 months ago to cancel their services because I went with a new home security provider. The new company (Vivint) needed me to get the Buyout amount so they can buyout the current contract with AMP. AMP told me that the cancellation department would call me, no one called. After about a week I called them again, and they said that I needed to mail them a certified cancellation letter. I mailed the letter, and called to check the status, they said it’s pending and that my contract is up with them in August. Another 2 weeks goes by, and I call again. This time they said my contract doesn’t expire until October 2026, and that they don’t have the Buyout number yet. Last week, the new security provider called and told me I only have 15 days left for them to buyout up to $1000 of the contract from AMP. So I called AMP today, and they said that they don’t have the Buyout number calculated yet. So I asked to speak with their supervisor, he said the supervisor was busy and that he will call me back.
Now mind you, even though I no longer have their equipment hooked up they still are deducting payments from our account. I had the bank put a stop payment on the month of May. However, for this month they tried to deduct it by changing the amount of the deduction. I then called AMP and told them I would take legal action against them, and they then reversed the payment returning the funds. I would not recommend this company to anyone, They are giving me the run around. Could you please help me get this resolved?Initial Complaint

Used services of AMPSmart for over 10 years beginning Jan 2014. They provide home monitoring. We sold the address at which we were using their services. We informed them on April 7, 2025 that we were cancelling the service since we had closed on the sale of the house. We continued to receive billing for the services we had cancelled. We made several attempts to communicate with them about the continued billings. We were informed that we could either take the equipment with us or have the new owners take over the contract. AND that we would have to pay for the rest of the contract for 2025. We were never informed that we had a contract that would require to complete it. This company purposefully keep people locked into renewal of contracts.
I began my contract cancelation process 2 months before my expiration date to ensure I had time for everything to process. I spoke with 4 people, sent and email, and sent USPS letter to the address they provided. They claimed they didn't get my cancelation latter in time and automatically renewed another contract. They also didn't have my equipment set up for 3 months after my contract began 5 years ago. Therefore, I was paying for 3 months of home security service with no service at all. They offered nothing for this lack of service. I've tried settling this many times. They are now screening my phone calls and sending me to voicemail everytime I call. I have had to contact my bank to stop payment from this company because what they are doing is fraudulent. I have checked reviews and others seem to be having the same encounters as myself. I would like help getting this contract renewal (starting June 4, 2025- June 4 2026) canceled. I did not approve of this contract and I have voiced that many times. I have paid the last 5 years of a contract I have hated. I have gone through all the process of canceling my contract and there is no reason for them to renew a contract in my name. Please help keep this company from continuing to trick people into contracts. Also, thr address they have listed is NOT the same address I was asked to send the cancelation letter. I receive 12 free months of service as a bundle when I purchased my solar panels. Equipment was installed on August 2024, but they started charging my card on May 2025. Called several times and was told to send an E-Mail to their customer service dept. I called the next day to verify my E-Mail was received. Was told then that customer service provider was not working at all, that I need to send a written letter to the cancellation dept. I asked why they gave me the E-mail address when they have no provider? Of course they do not know why. So I sent a written letter requesting cancellation of service. I still haven’t heard from them. So I called card company and stop any payments to them. They have a 800 number but it’s only for information only. I asked for telephone number of customer service, billing department and cancellation department. I was told that they do not received calls, just send a letter “they will get back to me” How can you be a “security system” company but customers are unable to get hold of customer service and other departments.
