Customer facing team is very eager to sell solar. I was told the design team could architect a system providing me 110% offset, producing more energy than my house uses. After installation, I’m told instead of 110% offset, I have 92% which is causing me to still have substantial utility bills on top of my payments to the solar company. I have been ignored by all the customer facing team that initiated the sale. Now that I am in contact with an escalation specialist, all I am being told is “your production meets standards & everything appears to be running as it should” .. I am now paying 3x more with solar then before

The customer signed up for a solar energy system that was designed to meet his normal annual energy consumption. An individual's energy consumption fluctuates but the system is designed to meet the needs according to his or her historical usage. The EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) company who the customer signed up with is named Freedom Forever. Their contract stipulates that the system is guaranteed to provide no less than 85% of the system's maximum capability. If the amount of energy the system generates is less than 85% of the system's capability the customer will be compensated for energy costs incurred. The customer states in his complaint that he is receiving 92%, which is within the threshold Freedom Forever guarantees.  I have no records of a system being installed that would produce 110% of his normal annual energy consumption.

Additionally, I do have records of the customer claiming that the loan he signed up for with a finance company is more than he agreed to by a significant amount. I have no prior records of the offset complaint you sent us; this is the first time we have been made aware of this particular complaint. The loan amounts he signed up for were signed by him and I have provided the documentation attached below. I bring this up as a pre-emptive measure in the scenario that the customer issues another BBB complaint unrelated to the offset complaint.

Any compensation outside of the production guarantee of 85% would need to be issued by the entity holding the contract, in this case Freedom Forever.

In February of 2022, I met with An employee of Caliber Solar, who appears to be a contract ******* of ******* Forever, at my house and signed a contract to have solar panels installed at my house for $87,000. The reason I agreed to a contract this high in price and this big for a total of 59 solar panels, was solely because in their presentation to me I was assured 108%, or within that range, of solar production indicating I would be producing enough solar to cover the costs of my electric bill. Ive had their system in operation for 2 months now, and have received electric bills of approximately $150 and $187. I have attempted 2 different telephone calls and multiple emails to address this with Caliber Solar and ******* Forever and have either been assured Caliber Solar would contact me, or Ive been ignored altogether. Besides their lack of customer service, I feel this ******* and its parent ******* employed deceitful promises and business practices in order to get me to sign a contract for $87.000.

After spending time researching this complaint, it looks like the installation happened on 05/18/2022. The complaint was filed 2 months later. Every Solar agreement has a guaranteed production in the contract. When there is overproduction from the solar panels, the customer then becomes eligible for credits from their utility company. These credits are typically applied biannually or annually and are determined by the utility company. Another factor that can affect a utility bill is whether there is more energy usage during peak hours by the homeowner. If so, the utility company will charge for the overuse of energy during peak hours.

The signed contract with Freedom has a production guarantee. This customer's productions have met the annual guarantee according to their contract. If they have questions about the contract they can contact Freedom Forever at ************. If they have questions about the application of credits for overproduction, or charges for peak-hour usage they need to contact their utility company.
