We went through Accessible Systems for a lift for our daughter. Insurance approved it 100% but it was out of network. We were told there may be a balance due. We asked Accessible Systems to not order the lift until we could see if Voc Rehab would pay the balance. They were going to pay if the insurance denied it. Our daughter is on medication that costs $450,000/yr and most of our health savings goes toward the $8050 deductible. We knew we couldn't pay any out of pocket toward the lift. We emailed Voc Rehab on 6/1/23, our counselor responded on 6/5/23 that it was sent to his supervisor for approval. Jeff from Accessible Systems texted on 6/7/23 stating that he ordered the lift. When asked if he had all the financials figured out he replied no but it will be ok. The lift was delivered on 6/28/23 and we were told at delivery there was no balance due. We were emailed papers to sign a couple of days later. One of the papers stated we would be responsible for what the insurance didn't cover. Since we were told there was no balance due we signed the papers. We are then told we owe $2908.50. Voc Rehab will not cover it because it was ordered before the proper procedure was followed. We called and talked to Jeff about paying half and trying to file an appeal with Voc Rehab. If they paid Jeff would refund us our money and if they didn't Jeff would accept our half as paid in full. He agreed. We paid him with our credit card 10/24/23. No appeal because procedure wasn't followed. We thought we were good until Accessible Systems wasn't awarded the bid for our basement lift by Voc Rehab. The day he found out (1/11/24) Jeff texted us that he needed the other half of the payment, going back on the agreement. We couldn't pay him because we needed the money for our deductible so he made an unauthorized charge to our credit card. He reversed the charge but is still demanding the money. We asked him not to order the lift and he ordered it anyway, creating a financial burden for us.
