I went to Jiffy Lube in Draper, UT on the 12/28/23 to get an oil change for my car. Everything seemed fine at first, until I started experiencing engine problems about four weeks later. My oil pressure gauge would abruptly decrease and the engine started making noises as soon as it had full temperature. I immediately went to my local repair shop and the mechanics said the oil looked way too thin to be appropriate for my engine. Then they noticed that the sticker the employee at jiffy lube put on my windshield was for a different car. The sticker indicated that there was 5W20 oil in my engine instead of the 10W30 that I need. A type of oil that could break my engine. My car has only 62K and the sticker indicated to be for a car of 243K miles. I am sure they probably switched it up because my car is from the 90s and would look like it had more mileage than the relatively new KIA that stood next to it. The mechanics advised me to get the oil changed to see if the problems would disappear. I went to my local Jiffy Lube in Pocatello trying to see if they would give me a free oil change, because it was messed up by Jiffy Lube in Utah, but they couldn't. They flushed the oil and confirmed to me that the sticker inside the car was for the KIA that stood next to mine in Utah, a car that uses much thinner oil than mine needed. They said that the employee in Utah did not only use the wrong oil but also the wrong amount (because it was meant for a different car) as the oil came out as liquid thin and also not in the appropriate capacity. I e-mailed the manager asking for a refund, but he said he has a video that shows the oil change was probably done the right way. However, he ended up giving me a refund now because he does not want to show me the video. My engine appears to be permanently damaged because of the wrong oil it had inside. The Dodge service station said the symptoms my car has are caused by wrong oil, especially because my car is low on mileage. They need to pull apart the whole engine to make a diagnosis, which will have an hourly cost of $185 and this will still not fix my engine. My engine would have been fine if it wasn't from the wrong oil a jiffy lube employee put into my vehicle. Is there any way that they can be held responsible for the damages caused to my car and be made to pay?
