Last year, I noticed there was a problem with our SolarCity/Tesla inverter not reporting the correct amount of electricity produced. On 09 Aug 2023, I notified Tesla that there was a problem. They took no action. I have been notifying them on a regular basis for over a year (communications documented) -- but they responded that they did not believe there was a problem. This year, after another attempt to notify them in June of 2024, they acknowledge there was an issue but instead of fixing it, they disabled the solar system. This month I received an abnormally large bill (10x over normal) - billing me for an abnormally large production of which my system is not capable of, especially considering it has been turned off. I contacted them about this and they explained I was being back-billed for production over the last year. They only provided a single, non-descript line in the bill with no details, other than we were to pay. I asked them to please provide an explanation and/or show how the new amount was calculated - they refused and also acknowledged that the numbers were questionable/not reliable considering the inaccuracy and issues of the inverter. I have documented all of our chats. We feel that I did our due diligence as consumers and were honest in reporting this issue as quickly as possible. I have paid all of our reasonable bills to Tesla in full and on-time. Tesla should be held accountable for their ineffective measures to 1) initially acknowledge there was an issue, 2) to resolve it quickly and 3) to provide any type of explanation and/or breakdown for the exorbitant recent bill charge - over $1500. We believe that we should not be charged for the energy production that was a result of a faulty inverter and/or incorrect installation after the date that we informed them that there was a problem. And we would like our system reactivated since we are continuing to pay the production bills (within a typical monthly amount) they are sending us.
