On December 15th my brother got into a high speed chase through Utah. He was in a friend car that I was in process of purchasing and did purchase in the 12th. When the chase came to an end all four tires and rims were tore up and the car had been pitted. Before the car was even towed i was on the phone with high voltage towing with a man name Joe who identified himself as the tow truck driver. Joe informed me the car wasn’t even in his possession yet and when asked how much he thought it would cost and he did this chuckle and said the bill would be huge. Meanwhile despite my efforts of informing the tow company and cops the car is not stolen they are still charging him with car theft. The next day I called Joe to see when I could possibly come get my car he informed me I needed 4 tires and rims and then also explained the process of retrieving my vehicle then told me my tow fee was $2400!! I asked for an invoice and he charges an hourly rate of $180.00 an hour and drove back and forth from price to green river about 4 times for the police to search it for their investigation then an admin fee and also a $40.00 night storage fee. As far as I understand utahs towing laws if the vehicle is stolen the. I should get my car back free or if the vehicle is being held as evidence or police holding it I should not have to pay the fees. I also believe strongly that the times documented were made up or stretch out in order to prevent me from getting the car or paying an outrageous amount so I couldn’t get it. I should not be punished for my brothers actions. He is still being charged with car theft so why am I not getting my car for free and I already have to come up with tires and rims but $2400 for towing fees!!!!! No way that’s crazy! It seems this has now became a game for Joe to ensure it’s neat impossible to get my car or the things inside.
