We started working with SegFunding in March of 2025. We were told by ***** that they were a small business brokerage and would find us funding for our new business. We were told that they would soft hit our credit to see what lenders were available, they said we needed to pay to open business credit for our business for $1,800. The only thing they did was open a Dunns and Bradstreet number which we could have done for $200! We found out after calling around that you can't just pay to open business credit, it needs to be earned without paying someone. Also when they sent the first lender we were shocked to learn neither mine or my wife's credit was soft pulled at all! After finally getting ***** of ***** after a couple weeks of calls and emails he said finally after he had our money that they are not a brokerage and that they are consultants! He tried sending a 2nd loan company that is in the middle of a class action lawsuit for unethical interest rates for small business'! We have tried reaching out to Segfunding multiple times with no luck. They are a deceptive company with deceptive practices to ******* you out of your money! We want our money back, i have filed fraud with our bank and if not returned, i will be reaching out to the correct financial government office to file a complaint and if that does not work then there is always the legal option as well. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND DO NOTHING FOR YOUR BUSINESS!Business Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Were genuinely sorry to hear that you feel dissatisfied with your experience, and we take all customer concerns seriously.
We want to clarify that SEG Funding operates as a business consulting firm, not a brokerage. This distinction is outlined in our service agreement, which was reviewed and signed prior to any services being rendered. Our role is to provide guidance and resources to help clients establish and position their businesses for potential funding opportunities, including consulting on business credit development and lender preparedness.
Regarding the $1,800 fee, this was not a charge solely for obtaining a DUNS number. It covered a broader consulting package, which includes support with foundational business credit setup, funding readiness, and strategic recommendations along with a professionally prepared business plan with accompanying financial plan. While its true that a DUNS number can be obtained independently, our services go beyond that single task, and this was communicated in our onboarding materials.
As for the credit inquiry concerns: we do not perform or authorize credit pulls ourselves. We advise clients on how potential lenders may review their credit (soft or hard pulls), but ultimately, those decisions lie with the lendersnot SEG Funding. We regret any confusion this may have caused and encourage clients to ask questions about all lending terms directly with the lenders involved.
You had sent in an article in which a lender had some litigation 4-5 Years ago. Almost all lending institutions have gone through some sort of litigation. Even lenders such as ****************, ***************, ****** small/large credit unions, SBA and microlenders deal with various litigation issues from time to time. We reached out to you regarding this topic but haven't heard back from you to address your concern. If a lender doesn't fit your desired needs, we can always switch to a different one very easily.
We also want to be transparent that at no point were services performed without your authorization, and all steps were initiated in line with the signed agreement. We are more than willing to revisit any aspect of your account and provide clarification or documentation regarding services provided.
If you are currently working with your bank, we will correspond as needed. However, we encourage a direct resolution with us and would be happy to arrange a time to discuss this further if you're open to doing so. After a full review of your account, it shows that dozens of phone calls and emails were made to complete the work associated with your file and your claim that we never returned your calls or emails is simply not valid. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We remain committed to ethical business practices and client satisfaction.Initial Complaint

Seg funding promises to get your business funded or your money back. We started working with SEG Funding back in beginning June. We are now in Nov and I haven't heard any work from the rep ******* To be honest he may be the only one who works there or this is his business. Because no matter what I call it leads back to him. It is very difficult to get ahold of him and when you call he's always out of the office. I know he's in the office because he constantly changes his voicemail. Times he was being questioned he gave round about answers and nothing was progressing with my business. Me and my partner would just like our money back because frankly SEG just made everything worse.Business Response

Dear Mr. ***************** you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you've experienced because helping clients is of the utmost importance to us. We strive to provide the highest level of service and regret that we have not met your expectations. Your feedback is important to us, and we take it seriously.
After a full review of your case, we see your business partner was in the lower 500's on his credit score. It was determined that putting him on the application would not be helpful to obtain the $250,000 for your start-up transportation company. While working with us, you applied on your own using a credit card stacking company who obtained $93,000 and you paid them 12% so over $11,000. This was not anything we participated in and was of your own doing. After this happened, it changed your entire credit profile because the brokerage you decided to use only got you personal credit cards and personal loans which we strongly advocate against. After this was all completed and your entire credit profile changed, we still managed to get you 2 equipment lenders that came back with $150,000 offers each to obtain the necessary business equipment for your transportation company. This work was completed back in June and your file was closed and marked as funded. That is why you didn't hear from us since June because the applications were completed and you maxed out on offers and approvals. If you'd like to discuss your status and/or some more loan options, we are always happy to help you. Please touch base at ************ Option 1 and we are happy to help further. Thank you!Initial Complaint
