    Epic decks started my deck replacement in November 2021. The majority of the deck was completed, but there was problems with the lighting not working due to defective products. There was also a problem with holes being drilled in the wrong place for railing. Instead of replacing the damages post covers, the holes were filed with caulking. Holes are coming back from caulking shrinking and expanding. They returned on May 10 2022 to finish the lights. The owner offered to stain the deck posts because of the 6 month delay in getting the lighting repaired. They failed to get the lights to work claiming that the product was defective from the factory. The deck posts were stained, but the workers failed to mix the stain or prepare the surface properly. The color was supposed to be charcoal like the deck and are brown. The surface was not sanded and the stain was applied over weeping sap. On May 23, 2022 Bonham stated he would send an electrician out to work on the lights, that he had already told me were defective. I told him I wanted new lights because defective lights would go out again, He told me that he would refund me the $900 I paid for the lights. I asked that he just come back and finish the job. I told him this because I knew it would cost me much more to hire a contractor to come back to replace the post covers, replace the defective lights, and re-stain the posts. I made contact with him again on June 2, and he stated he would refund the $900.00. I asked that he come back to finish the jobs, and discussed lights for replacement. He did not come back to finish the work, or send a refund check. On Oct 12 2022 I telephone him and left a message stating I was considering taking him to small claims court if he did not come back to finish the job. He returned a text stating that he didn't realize I was still waiting. He said he thought it was still in the air and that the ball was dropped. I replied by sending him screen shots of our most recent texts that were in June. As of 12/17/2022 I have not heard from him or received a refund. He knows that I am waiting for resolution, or to see if I will file in small claims. I don't want the hassle and time off work to go to small claims. It will cost more than $900 to replace the lights, replace the post covers, and re-stain the posts, So I would prefer that he come back to finish the work, or refund the amount it would cost to make all the corrections.
