I was misinformed by the career advisor, he stated that Career steps will pay for two certification exams and then my tuition would cover two more which would make me more marketable for the job market and that was the sole reason for enrolling. After paying $100 down payment to start enrollment I saw that there was only one exam voucher. I reached out to the representative by email and he did not respond until the following day suggesting I wait for another department to contact me with the information I needed. I sent a follow up email to which he did not ***********, almost a week after getting the call and information I needed I was better able to make an informed decision stating that I no longer needed to be a part of the program to which I was told by the advisor that it was a miscommunication. I insisted on cancelling since the experience had already gone wrong. Now I was emailed by their returns department stating that my $100 down payment is not refundable due to me not cancelling within 48hours. I called to explain that I could not make such a decision without proper clarification which was delayed due to the representative not responding in a timely manner but they are still adamant that I cannot get my money back. This is not right! All I wanted to do was to get certified to make a honest living instead, I was bamboozled out of $100.

I paid for a course through Career Step for Medical Assistant. I was provided all the tools and was able to do my classes. I then asked to change to a different course, which they obliged and changed it. I then changed back to Medical Assistant because I did not use the other one. However, I have not been able to access the Medical Assistant course since April of 2022. I have contacted my student advisor through text, call and email multiple times, to no avail. She stopped responding. I simply wanted her to "unlock" the class or give me access. I have been paying (out of pocket) $181.66, monthly. I still have NO access to my course(s). I have called multiple times and have spoken to customer service. They promised to call me back with an update within ***** hours. The first time I called was 10/3/22. They never called me back. I called again on 10/6/22, they promised to call me back within ***** hours again -- still no call back. I called AGAIN, a THIRD TIME on 10/10/22, and again, they promised once they knew something, they would call me back within ***** hours. They are still charging me and REFUSE to pause payments until I have access to my course. I am losing time, money and patience with Career Step. I have told them I would blacklist their company with the ************* Army by Wednesday, 10/12/22, which is another 48 hours after my last call to them, if they do not unlock my course. They only give you 12 months to complete this course or they continue to charge you, even though you've paid all the dues. I am not interested in paying more because of their mistake that they refuse to fix!

    Ms. *******,

Thank you for reaching out to us. After reviewing your account it was discovered that you were allowed to transfer programs which did cause some access issues with the new program.  These issues have since been resolved and access has been regained. I contacted Career Step within the 2 week limit and said that I would like to withdraw from the program. I then got a phone call by an agent basically shaming me into staying in the program. I should have just been allowed to withdraw, no questions asked, no psychological warfare, no guilt tripping involved. I told the agent I could not afford it, he continued to say things like it will be fine and I know you want to do this program and just saying anything to get me to stay, I very hesitantly agreed because I was confused by everything he was saying. I then re contacted him and said I wanted to withdraw for real this time but at this point the deadline had passed. He did this purposely. I dont mean to seem rude or cause issues but I think that because I tried to withdraw before the deadline, I should be allowed to withdraw. This is the only thing I could think to do. Maybe technically because my contract was recently changed (trying to make the contract longer so the payments were less expensive) the 2 week withdraw deadline has started over. And Id like to withdraw. I need to.
