Incident date- (today) 7/13/23 This is a dog grooming place and I took my dog here and was quoted for wash, nail trimming, deshedding, and dematting. This place shaved half of my dog without my consent. I did not sign a waiver like some dog grooming places offer. My dog had matting around her neck and stomach but nothing that warranted shaving her down to her skin. They could have used scissors to cut out some of the mats. My dog is double undercoated and is not supposed to be shaved to this extent. Once I picked up my dog, they said that she had “shave shock” indicating that the hair would not grow back. They said it’s likely it will never grow back. Once they knew they would be shaving her, they did not call me for permission or let me know anything going on. Additionally, my dog has razor burn on her chest and stomach that has small punctures. That area that does not have punctures is completely red and inflamed. It’s making my dog itchy and in pain. They charged me for cutting her nails, but didn’t cut all of them. I paid $200. My dog is only 1 year old and it makes me sick to know her hair will not grow back. Part of being double undercoated means that it keeps her warm when it’s winter and cool when it’s summer and now she no longer has that natural thermoregulation. I’m requesting compensation on top of a refund due to their negligence.
