Car towed at Lowes 1335 S 300 W while at ballpark. No sign at each entrance notifying customer of no parking for events One handmade sign at north entrance that no event parking was allowed, that is not noticable to people. we entered at the south entrance and there is no sign Atomic towing is using two employees to patrol and monitor property then call the tow truck. Under Utah State Legislation Subsection (4) (a)(ii) “ a tow truck motor carrier may not patrol and monitor the property” I have picture that show employees monitoring parking lot and Atomic towing showing up. These employees took my credit card when they towed my car. Charged $388.00 to tow car 3 miles. The pictures I sent was Brittany an employee of Atomic Towing in her gray jeep in Lowes parking lot, Brittany from Atomic Towing talking to the tow truck driver after it arrived at Lowes, and a red SUV that was also monitoring the parking lot.

December 16th; I bought a truck as a project from the trucks owner. it was parked in what I was led to believe was the back lot of the mechanic/car dealer that they had been having work on it. It turns out that everyone BUT me knew that was not the case. This company stated that they don't even need to post signs, (there are a couple, but NOT anywhere visible on the main entrance to the lot, nor anything that says who owns or manages it), that if the property manager calls it in they can tow it. Then hold it for fees & storage(aka extorsion). These towing companies are predators, there is no other word that fits.

11/19/23 My van was towed from a Walmart parking lot after I notified both the store and local PD that because of a medical emergency it would be left in that lot. When I confronted the owner of atomic towing I was lied to and told that the tow was authorized by a Walmart employee. I spoke with the store manager and no employee would ever authorize such a thing. When I mentioned this to atomic towing, I was then told that the tow was authorized by local PD. I spoke with the patrol sergeant who was on duty that evening and he reported that no officers filed an abandoned vehicle report for that shift. When given this information I was hung up on.

    Regarding complaint,

The tow was authorized by the contract that we have with Walmart. I provided proof to UDOT that Walmart did not know of the van being left and that they did authorize the tow. Furthermore, his van was left parked directly behind the sign that states Lot is patrolled and towing is enforced. He was only hung up on after he continued to call our staff names, and use derogatory language. He was also asked to not call again because he was harassing us and was already provided with the proof of the tow and informed that he was towed from private property.
    Thank you,
    Brittany

They illegally towed my truck claiming the checked the national database to check my registration and it said it was expired. My sticker was missing but my truck has been registered since august of 2022 and I had the proof in the MVD database. Then they said that their system actually wasn’t working to show us that it came up and unregistered… then the office girl Brittany forged a letter claiming I was parked in someone’s assigned spot and the manager had told me it wasn’t assigned even now. They stole my truck under false violations that they never proved and they held it for money, which is extortion. I will not stop fighting for my 2 days of lost wages from both jobs I hold due to having to get to another city to pick up my truck that they stole from the parking lot of my apartment complex.

This company is corrupt and the “men” running it are extremely disrespectful. They do not even read the towing laws for neighborhoods/parking lots and will tell you to contact your HOA for their illegal towing. Had to run to a friends house and they do not have guest parking, so we parked on the street. The sign says parking is not permitted there from 12am-5am, however, a warning MUST be issued before a vehicle can be towed. They towed our vehicle 10 minutes after 12am, and never gave us a warning which is stated in the fine print. When we tried to contact them because they illegally towed the truck, they said they had no control over the situation and we needed to pick it up in the morning. The truck was at the lot for 8 hours and the fee was $330. When arriving, they said that they do not care about the fine print or towing laws, and we needed to contact the HOA. When walking out, they said that we better watch our backs because they don’t follow the rules and will likely be back to try to tow us again. These “men” running this company are nothing but a couple of low life vultures who spend more time stealing money from people, than running a reliable tow truck company. They jimmied our door and searched through our vehicle to try to steal whatever they could. (They charged us $330 to get the truck out, but stole a bottle of cheap cologne?) How sad. We always lock our truck, and when we received it back, the doors were unlocked, and multiple personal belongings were strung out on the floor, or missing. This company should be ashamed of themselves. I have attached a copy of the HOA’s towing policy and highlighted where it states a warning MUST be issued first.
