I used Two Men and a Truck to load all my my household goods into a storage unit in Utah at the end of May. Then I moved to CT to begin a career in another military branch. I needed my things sooner than the military move would occur because I have a family, so I had Two Men and a Truck load a uPack truck and it was delivered to me in CT. A friend let them in and out of the storage facility in Utah for that to happen. They loaded so poorly that my things were in heaps. I had 120-140 well packed boxes and furniture, and I said I'd pay for as many blankets and ratchet straps as needed. It arrived with boxes marked fragile flattened, boxes upside down, several bookshelves flattened, my children's toy box flattened, our expensive family piano had no blankets on it and sustained huge gashes down the side and broke corners, our $900 dresser lost 2 legs and cracked all around the base, my wife's antique desk was destroyed and cannot close, most of my children's room furniture including beds and cribs were seriously damaged, my nightstands were destroyed, my $2000 mattress has a hole in it, my lazyboy has a hole in it.

The movers here in CT were shocked and asked to take photos to use for training on what not to do. They offered to give statements saying it was poor loading that causes the disaster. I

I reached out to the team in Utah and they said that my friend, who can't legally agree to anything on my behalf, signed a liability waiver so they're covered as it happened in transit and not during loading. But it happened as a result of loading, and that agreement cannot be legitimate.

      Dented dryer
      Caved in toy box
      Hole in lazy boy
      Hole in mattress
      Legs off dresser
      Antique desk critically damaged
      4 broken cube organizers
      Flattened "fragile" box
Pile of screws found on truck floor due to many things falling apart
      Piano scratched
      Night stand scratched
      Doll crib broken
Various shoe racks and plastic bins broken

      This list is not exhaustive.

Attached you will see a Release of Liability for a Load Only.  When we load items into a truck or a container that is not ours we do everything we can to make sure that it will arrive at the new location safely.  Unfortunately this doesn’t always happen.  As soon as the doors are closed it is out of our Care Custody and Control.  Because of this we require the customer to purchase straps and blankets to help secure and protect there furniture.  On this job we did sell straps and pads and used them to the best of our ability while loading the container.  We also use the form attached so the customer agrees that they understand that after items are loaded it is out of our immediate care, custody and control.   We have the customer sign off that they are satisfied with the load when it is half full and when it is all loaded.   In this case the customer had someone represent them at the load.  That person was in charge of signing all of this for the customer.  At this point we feel like we have done everything we can do.   We have no idea how the container was moved or transported from Utah to Connecticut.

      Thanks,

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

      1. The party representing me is not legally capable of waiving liability on my behalf

      2. The party representing me was not aware of what the form was asking

      3. The materials you claimed were used and charged me for were simply not used as you stated. Furthermore nothing was wrapped, heavy items were stacked on weak and fragile items, and boxed marked fragile were under immense weight.

      4. Two Men and a Truck employees here in CT asked to take photos of the job because it was so bad they wanted to use it as training on what not to do in their local store. They assured us it was absolutely poor loading that was at fault and gave us their names and offered to give statements detailing how it was poor loading.

      5. Things that were to have been boxed in the previous move that you ALSO did from our Utah home into storage were entirely unboxed. My computer was simply freely rolling around the truck. So you consistently fail to secure and pack things as you state you will do.

The way you chose to handle this case is reprehensible. You sought to avoid liability, ignore me for months, and misrepresent what happened to protect yourself. You destroyed thousands of dollars worth of household goods of a military family and made zero effort to help them at all. KSL was happy to run a story on it, but I withdrew and chose not to because it's not the Christian thing to do. This response is embarrassing though. It'd be better if you'd never responded at all. Had you at any point simply apologized and showed remorse I probably would have dropped it, but you simply deflect. Your company is bad and should be avoided.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *******
