To Whom It May Concern,I am writing to formally express my concern and dissatisfaction regarding an incident involving the towing and subsequent retrieval of our vehicle by the Utah Parking Authority. On July 5th, our car was towed from a public street where no visible signage indicated that parking was prohibited on that side of the road. We were shocked to learn that our vehicle had been towed, and even more disturbed by the excessive retrieval fee of $412.50, which we were required to pay in order to recover our car.Furthermore, the entire interaction and resolution process was handled solely via text message, which I believe is not an appropriate or transparent method of managing such a significant and costly situation. There was no opportunity for a proper explanation, appeal, or even a conversation with a representative. We strongly believe that:The lack of proper signage constitutes an unfair practice. The fee charged is excessive and unreasonable. The handling of the matter exclusively through text communication was unprofessional and inadequate. We are requesting a formal review of this incident, a breakdown of the towing and storage charges, and a partial or full refund based on the circumstances. We also request clarity on your posted signage policies and procedures to ensure that others are not unfairly penalized in the future. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise on the next steps for resolution. We would appreciate a prompt response.Sincerely,******** ****** July 6, 2020 Vineyard Utah

Thank you for your feedback. I have reviewed the permit parking violation on the 2020 Kia ***** from Fri, July 4, 2025 @ 09:24PM. As an out of state parent, I can only assume that you have received inaccurate information from your adult son, ********, who was towed. The vehicle was not towed from a public street in ********, rather a private lot adjacent to several large housing facilities. There are 12 total parking enforcement signs on the property, 2 large reflective signs posted at each entrance, warning motorists that the lot is patrolled for Permit Parking Only and that violators will be towed.******** was sent the Utah Consumer Bill of Rights Regarding Towing by text at 9:11 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, immediately after he contacted our Enforcement *********** to arrange the vehicles release. This state document explains every towing and storage charge regulated by Utah law. The initial towing fees were $250.81, which includes a courtesy discount of $57.80. Because the car remained in impound for three days, daily storage fees were added along with an after hours fee for pickup outside regular business hours, which was disclosed to ******** prior to payment. The total amount billed remains well below the maximum rates allowed by the State of Utah.We understand that some customers prefer to speak with a representative by phone. However, we offer text-based support because it reduces wait times, enables us to provide precise information, and allows us to share addresses and directions instantly. Putting legal disclosures and documentation in writing helps prevent misunderstandings and creates a timestamped record of every interaction. A live help-center representative responded promptly to each of Franklins questions, including the follow-up inquiries and concerns that you contacted us about yesterday. We emailed ******** his towing report, including a detailed breakdown of all charges, on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 9:49 PM, immediately after releasing his vehicle. If he has any further questions about the towing, please have him contact our 24/7 Enforcement ***********.

The *** is charging college students $355 for impounding their vehicles. This is criminal. They are also engaging in predatory behavior, as cars are towed within minutes of parking in an illegal spot. Students have no choice but to pay the fines. While waiting to get her parking pass the first week of moving in, she parked illegally and ran inside, and within minutes she had been towed. This is business behavior at its WORST. Do NOT rent an apartment from any building using the Utah Parking Authority to police its parking. This should be $100-$150 at the MOST. We'll be reaching out to legislators next to ask regarding price gouging. ******* any building that hires the Utah Parking Authority to handle parking!!!

I was parked in a visitor parking spot at the riverside condominiums. Everything on the spot showed that it was a spot meant for visitors to park and I was visiting someone briefly. I was only away from my car for about 15 minutes and returned to see it missing. I saw there was a very small blue sign in front of the parking spot that said VISITOR PARKING in big letters but in fine print below mentioned that you had to download an app to park there. Even if I saw this beforehand my phone did not have good enough service to download such an app plus that would've cost money in data to download not to mention the required time it takes to go through such a registration. I rushed to fill out the payment forms to get my car back and thankfully it was returned relatively swiftly but the fees were extremely exorbitant. $297 despite the fact that they only had my car for maybe **************************************** an after hours fee which feels unfair. It is extremely dishonest and underhanded to put gotchas like that to deceive people who are used to the norm of visitor parking spots. The company uses an automated system that prevents you from having any human interaction until you have already paid their fees. This is a terrible organization designed to prey on people and it should be shutdown and the laws should be changed .

We understand that receiving a parking fine can be frustrating, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. A compliance manager has completed a thorough review of your parking file, including the documented evidence video and legal parking signs. The visitor parking sign located directly in front of your vehicle clearly stated: "Visitor Parking Only, Digital Visitor Permit Required 24/7. Violators will be towed. Also stated on the sign are directions to obtain a digital permit, where you can either download the ************* app or visit **************** and enter the visitor code provided. This web address and QR code are also posted on the sign for your convenience. The registration process typically takes about two minutes to complete. Additionally, the *** *********** operates with live representatives available 24/7 to assist you with any questions related to digital permitting.Parking fees are governed and set by the state of ****. Upon reviewing your file, we noted that your total towing invoice was discounted by $82.35. Utah Parking Authority utilizes license plate recognition technology for evidence-based enforcement. If you would like to review any evidence pertaining to your case, please feel free to contact the *** *********** to request the documentation. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.

Utah parking authority towed our car which was registered and parked in the correct lot. When we tried to appeal to them they responded that they do not offer phone service. When you text them and try to explain the situation, they send you automated responses with links about where you can pay. If you persist they will send an automated response saying you can appeal after you when paid in full. They are a scam of a company exploiting college students.

Its understandable that you would want to express your frustration with paying a parking fine, however, this vehicle was towed from a designated private reserved parking stall in a restricted lot. Utah Parking Authority (UPA) is contractually obligated to respond to stall owners' requests for the towing of unauthorized vehicles in their private parking stalls. Legal warning signs are prominently displayed at the property's entrance, informing all motorists of the parking regulations in effect.Utah Parking Authority has created a professional evidence-based parking management and enforcement system. If you havent already been provided this evidence via time-stamped photo or audit log, feel free to reach out to our help center and request documentation.

Utah Parking Authority doesnt offer help when asked. Even if it is a child/minor that is left with a booted car that they paid the fine to get it off. The space to leave this review is limited. An essay could be written about my daughters experience. Long story short, I have the documentation that tells about their lack of support. Even if it puts a child at risk. They totally evade from ANY responsibility on their end. After I (the Dad) tried contacting them I eventually had a text only dialogue with someone that couldnt help. This was on a Saturday. I was told a manger would call me on Monday. That never happened. It is now Tuesday night and still no call from management. The employee behind the texting gatekeeper tonight offered no help again only by being evasive. The company tells me that my 17 year old daughter is responsible for getting the boot off because the automation guided her to pay the fine and it will quickly remove the boot. She was given a code. She entered the code. And the boot would not come off. She had to ask strangers to help. They couldnt get the boot off either. Grown adult men couldnt get the boot off. Meanwhile my daughter is trying to call and let the company know she was having problems. They dont use the phone even though there is an option to call. When I later communicated to UPA (via text of course) they said they sent her a video via text. The video didnt help her or the grown men from removing it. One man was h*** bent on getting his tools from his pickup to take This is a company that offers a poor service to businesses. Those businesses too could be held liable if something were to happen to someone pleading for help and then put in ***** way. *** only boots, tows and receives fine money. They dont care what happens after that. *** will probably respond to this review to try to redeem themselves. However, I have the texts and documentation supporting my review/claim.

I believe weve already resolved any miscommunication, but allow me to recap our 45-minute conversation regarding the parking device and fine your daughter received for parking in a "current customer ********************** only" lot while visiting a neighboring property. On Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 1:03 PM, the *************** received a text message requesting assistance with removing a Smartboot. At 1:04 PM, our representative provided the customer with the four-step process for releasing the device. At 1:07 PM, the customer asked for a list of return bins, to which we promptly responded with GPS directions. Subsequently, at 1:23 PM, the customer inquired about assistance in unbooting their vehicle again. Our help center requested specific details such as the driver's name, property name, vehicle description, and license plate to locate the file and the customer was provided troubleshooting tips for self-release. The help center did not receive a response, prompting the representative to follow up and inquire if she still required assistance, to which the customer responded with a no at 1:44 *****'s important to note that based on the communication, our help center representative had no way of knowing that the customer was a *********** child/minor or that she needed additional assistance with the Smartboot removal. During the payment process, customers can choose between using the self-releasing feature of the Smartboot or opting for an assisted release, where a parking attendant would be dispatched to handle the device's removal and retrieval. Following our discussion, we have taken steps to clarify this option more effectively in our communications and procedures.

predatory. Awful to deal with, they are rude. I was off one letter on my license plate when I put it on the website and was booted twice. The first time I corrected my error and on the website, it didn't load and gave me an error message. When I went to talk to them about fixing this error on their website which i assume was down. The only way they would fix it on their end was by getting my dmv registration from the state of ****. I told them I was not going to do that as its not public information, and they should require it to change one letter on the license plate registered with the website. We went back and forth. I paid for the first boot then got booted twice. The second time because the spot still had the wrong plate number. I asked them to fix it and I was told that it was my fault, I was 100 percent at fault for their website not working and updating the right plate and on top of that they refused to fix the error. Why should it matter who the car is registered under, if it's my name or my mom's name that isn't their problem. I pay my rent; I pay for the spot I was one number off and I got charged twice for it.

License plate numbers are unique identifiers for vehicles and serve as your digital parking permit. Even a small error, such as a missing digit or a swapped letter, will result in a completely different vehicle being identified. The system doesn't have any additional context or reference to determine if a mistake has been made. It only knows the exact data input by the user and can't intuitively know what the user meant to ************************************************* compliance cameras depend on the data you supply in your digital permit account. It is the permit holder's responsibility to ensure that accurate information, including the correct license plate details, is entered into their account. This license plate information is subsequently cross-referenced with the camera database to determine whether a vehicle is parked with or without proper authorization.

Im really frustrated with my recent experience with UPA. Heres why:1.Vehicle Location: I wasnt told where my car was until I paid. That seems against the rules.2.Justification: My car had a valid parking permit, yet it was towed. I need to know why.3.HOA Rules: I want to see the specific HOA rules that justify this tow.4.Complaint Process: There was no clear information on how to file a complaint.5.Management Contact: I couldnt reach anyone in management to discuss my issue.6.Signage: Conflicting info about the status and location of towing signs.

I have reviewed the parking file, evidence videos, warning photos, and the extensive communication youve had with the *** help center. The following information has all been provided to you. This motorcycle received a warning on a private street from the *** stating that you have 2 days to move the vehicle or it will be towed for expired plates and for storing the vehicle with a guest permit on the roadway for longer than permitted. This vehicle failed to comply and was reported by the *** and requested to be towed. Legal signs are posted at the entrance to this private street. You have received all of this legal documentation, links to how to dispute a parking fine, and itemized receipts. Please contact your *** should you need additional clarification on your property parking regulations and CC&Rs.

I was towed from guest parking at my friends apartment complex, a place that requires no permit to park. Had to pay nearly $300 to get it back despite being impounded less than 15 minutes. The fees are ridiculous and way too high, and the business will try to explain that what they charge is legal. Being legal does not mean you are ethically or morally right at all. It does not take a full tank of gas to drive 5 minutes, so don't pretend it does.My coworker got booted in his own parking lot, and he has lived in that apartment complex for over a year. He has always had the parking sticker in his window, and yet this time they towed him, and made him pay to remove the boot because when he said the parking sticker was always in his window, they said it wasn't at the time of the boot. What, do you think he just decided to take the sticker off one night? He has lived there for a YEAR with no problem, and you are lying to his face due to your greed.Absolutely horrible company, nearly everyone gives it a 1 star review, and company responses always say they are within their legal rights to be horrible people, so we shouldn't give them bad reviews. They are literally only in business because they have a monopoly on the area; outside of that, there is no world where this company should still be running. Honestly needs to be taken to court, but unfortunately college kids do not have that kind of money, especially after having to pay for these ridiculous fees.
