I attended a class for $60 at ASDI Armed Self-Defense Institute on 10/27/23 in Gilbert Arizona at 6PM confirmation number ******. I also paid $75 for them to provide a cashier's check, my application, my class attendance and my fingerprints to the Department of Public Safety in Phoenix, Arizona. I have called the DPS location in Phoenix and they assure me that they are caught up with their application for a concealed carry permit and that they never received my application, fingerprints, cashier's check and verification of ASDI's class attendance. I have called, texted, left voice mails and attempted to contact ASDI and I cannot reach anyone regarding the tracking of my application being sent to DPS. Bottom line: I paid for the class and paid extra for them to take care of the application with my state agency. I want to know where my application is and if it has not been sent when will it be sent.

Having a government agency as a key step for our customers to receive their permit is always a challenge. If our students are submitting paperwork themselves, they know they submitted it and therefore know the agency is the one slowing it down. We fully understand that when we submit the paperwork and handle that piece the process it can be easy for students to assume we are the problem. In this case, our customer service team member decided, upon receiving concern from the student, to do their research and make sure nothing was holding it up on our end before reaching back out to them. After doing that, they contacted the student to inform them that their paperwork had been submitted as planned and that the wait time they were experiencing was unfortunately normal for that particular agency. We should have first contacted the student to let him know we were looking into it after receiving the message so they knew we were on it.

In rare cases where a government agency loses, misplaces, or processes student paperwork incorrectly, we are happy to have the student come to a class so we can reprocess paperwork at no charge. Again, this is very rare, so at this time based on thousands of students we would have the student just wait for the agency to process their paperwork.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. This was my error and impatience not a problem with the business.

I wish I would have waited to write to BBB. The same afternoon I called the state agency and they received my application on 11/14/23. I tried to contact the BBB right after that call but my initial complaint number was not generated an thus could not be "canceled."

Please cancel this complaint as it was filed in error!

    Sincerely,

    **** ********

I was a patron of this business, I paid for **** gun license class, came from a different state to take the class in *************** **** & paid to attend & eventually receive a gun permit. *************** took my money for the class & when it became time for ASDI to submit my application to the ************* they used incorrect ink & purposefully made sure my application would be returned & rejected while keeping my money for the class & leaving me without a licenses hun permit

In reviewing this complaint we found that *************** took a class in ***************, UT in April 2018. We have no record of Mr ****** having any issue with our service at the time of the class or in the months after, only this complaint 5 years after the course. Anytime an issue comes up we always fix it immediately, but without knowing about the issue we can not fix it. Unfortunately with these kinds of issues time is of the essence, all of our class certifications in **** have a government mandated expiration date of one year from the date of the class. Meaning once you take the class all applications must be submitted or in this case resubmitted within a year of the class or the training course must be retaken.

In regards to the issue of wrong ink, we must assume that *************** is refereeing to the fingerprint card that must be completed in black ink only. The *** fingerprint card explains it must be filled out in black ink only, our instructions state clearly you must use black ink only, and we only provide black ink pens at our classes. With all that said if one of our fingerprint technicians did not catch a card completed with a color besides black ink then that is still our fault. If *************** can submit the **** ****** of ******** Identification rejection letter stating the cause for the rejection of his application this will help us determine if this was the reason for his rejection. We would kindly ask *************** to send us a copy of the rejection letter to ************************ If our team submitted a card that had ink other than black ink we will gladly offer *************** to attend one or our classes at not charge to him.

The reason we can not simply redo the fingerprints/application is because the 1 year since the class has lapsed and must be retaken. The **** ****** of ******** Identification does not make exceptions on this. We look forward to receiving the necessary documents to proceed.

To anyone in the future reading this who may have the rare issue or hiccup submitting an application after one of our classes, please contact us immediately as we can usually get your application resubmitted or back on track within days if we know about the issue.

Armed Self Defense Institute in **** has been a fraud. I enrolled in their course December of 2021. Passed the class paid for all of their services and still have not received my concealed carry permit and do not feel safe. I feel targeted and preyed upon as they have not done their due diligence. The last week I have called numerous times and no response. This needs to be resolved. And I feel as I was scammed.

    ******,

Very sad to hear that you have not yet received your permit yet. I will have someone from customer service contact you immediately. Once we submit all required paperwork to the **** Bureau of Criminal Identification it is up to them to process an issue the permit. They will not speak with us about you application's status as that is personal to you, however you can contact them at **************. Often times when you call you will find out that the permit was issued in a timely manner but for what ever reason never made it from the Bureau to your home. In those cases they usually confirm your address and re-mail it. In other situations they may notify you of an issue with you application that needs to be resolved. In rare occasions you will find that they can not find your application that was submitted. In the unlikely event that they can not find your application we are happy to help you complete a new application, fingerprint card, and photo at no charge and deliver the application in person to them.

While we can never guarantee issuance of a government issued permit we will do everything in our power to make sure they have all the required documents to process your application and background check.

    Kind Regards,
