Back in September, we had an appointment with an Ion Solar associate, ***. He explained the benefits of solar panels, etc. One if the majors questions we asked were how much would we pay the electric company per month. With full confidence, he explained we only pay roughly $10-$20 a month since we would only be on the local power grid at night.Fast forward to October, we get our first bill after we get our 7 panels. Which was what was calculated for two adults in a three bed room home. It was approximately $60. Thus was a reduction of $20 per month during the winter months. The subsequent months were about the same. When I asked why we were still receiving bills in this amount, not much of an answer was given. We were told to install more LED lights. But none of our electrical habits changed. In other words, their associates are more than willing to lie to make their sale. This is unacceptable. So now rather than a basic power bill, now we have a that plus the financing cost of the panels. Again, unacceptable. Truth be told, if we could tell them to take them back we would. They'll tell you they have a 5 star ****** rating. You can pay people to give you a ****** review. Because had we checked BBB, we would have told *** to kick rocks.

*** came to my door, we have No Soliciting sign posted. It was a fellow offering a FREE estimate of solar panels. I told this rep. Im not interested as I need to replace the roof to which he said If you get the panels the roofing will be free. I had never heard of such a thing so I scheduled a home consult on 10/21. *******. **** on 10/21 came much later than scheduled and I told him we cant do this any more; he said it will only take a few minutes to show us the information. I was rushed from the get go, but this rep did clarify the 1st rep was wrong in saying the roof instal would be free. But, he continued the site inspection will be free. After hearing that the cost of electricity was increased in our area, we considered the offer of solar panels, **** said the inspection would be free of charge and it would then be determined if we would need a new roof and then we would get the total free estimate. **** said even when the installation was scheduled we would have 3 days to back out of instal at no charge. I insisted that we were in a hurry to which he took out his lap top and said this review of the offer will only take a few more minutes, just sign here and here and all the information will be sent to you via email, now talking to us in Spanish. I got very distressed as I was being rushed. Im usually very diligent about any special offers but he got us on a bad day. I was asked for bank information to which I got weary but he kept talking about his family even showed us his kids pictures as hes having me sign and he kept assuring us NOT to worry as when I got the free estimate I would have time to cancel at any time, if we decided then not to continue. I got a quote of $23,593.00 on Nov 19, I asked to cancel as it was way too much. On 12/15 I got an invoice for $1,500: $500 site survey & $1000 final design. I never even had a date of instal set up. I was told lies from the beginning and I never would have agreed to paying that much for panels.

Ion installed solar panels on my house in July 2023. However I’m still not connected because it keeps failing inspection even though they’ve been out here many times to”fix it”. Someone was just here 2 weeks ago & supposedly finally fixed it but today I got a message that it still didn’t pass. They have been charging me for months! It is their fault it’s not right. I did nothing to cause this delay.

This solar project has been at the installation stage since 10/9/23. On 10/13/23, the physical installation was supposedly completed and the inspection/permit phase begun. On 11/29/23, I was informed that the system failed the utility's (PNM) inspection and corrections were required. I was told afterward by the Ion Solar project POC in text that the issue was minor but given no timeline for questions. Further texts were ignored. It is unacceptable that Ion Solar has still not even scheduled an employee to come out and fix this supposedly minor issue almost a month later, much less fix the issue. I was told on 12/22/23 by email from PNM that the installer still hasn't responded to them about this issue, which suggests their response time for this is far above average. How much longer do I need to wait for Ion Solar to give a **** and schedule someone to come out, much less the time after that before they arrive and then for PNM to come out for re-inspection? This is taking far longer from my previous experience with solar installers and it shocks me that a solar company that is used to working with PNM would s**** up this detail of the installation in the first place.

System is not connected nor providing energy. Regular energy bill has gone up over last 3 months. Called ION to go through steps of reconnect through the gateway. Nothing will connect. Next step was for ION to send a service tech but wanted to charge $275 for a service fee. They said all equipment was under warranty. If it's under warranty and there is a problem why is there a service fee?

I was lied to by the person who came to my house, they sold me the panels with a "guarantee" that I would get a $40 a month credit from the Entergy and my panels would be $49 a month. I have NEVER gotten more than $9 a month from the company and my panels are now going up to $69 a month for the next 20 years. Why would I pay that much and not get anything in return. I called up Entergy and asked when I would start getting a refund from them and they told me it was on my bill. That month it was $8. Obviously Solar Panels are the biggest scam out there.

OWNER ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF ESTIMATE NATURE OF SYSTEM INFORMATION:

Owner acknowledges and agrees that the System Information set forth in this Agreement (including but not limited to the production estimates, savings/offset estimates, etc. set forth in the box above.) are good faith estimates only that have been based on data, information and input provided by Owner and for which Owner is solely and exclusively responsible. Owner further acknowledges and agrees that estimating solar production and usage is not an exact science because many factors such as weather, equipment placement, customer preferences, utility company rates and/or policies and procedures, third-party solar technology and equipment, power outages, equipment failure, tree and foliage growth, changes in Owners own electrical usage, etc. all impact such figures, estimates, production, and offsets. Accordingly, Owner hereby acknowledges that all such conversations, figures and estimates, including but not limited to those set forth in the System Information sections of this Agreement (regardless of whether presented verbally, in a pamphlet or other advertising materials, as part of a sales presentation or otherwise) are all provided as estimates only and not as any sort of guarantee or contractual commitment of any type. Owner acknowledges and understands that Contractor is not and cannot make any guarantees whatsoever with regard to the actual production or usage of the Solar System or any offsets to be realized as a result thereof and that under no circumstances will Owner request (or Contractor be obligated to pay for) any expected utility bill offset (or any other offset of any kind) not actually realized or earned. Additionally, Owner acknowledges that solar system equipment generally experiences an average annual degradation in production of approximately .05% per year (sometimes more and sometimes less depending on how fast the equipment and components age, etc.) for which Contractor is not responsible or liable. Against the backdrop of all of the foregoing, Owner hereby knowingly and unconditionally waives and releases any and all claims Owner may have against Contractor (or any of Contractors agents) that in any way arise from or relate to any estimates provided to Owner and/or to the System Information and specifications set forth in this Agreement, including but not limited to system size, estimated production, estimated savings, estimates offsets, projected use, or annual degradation, etc.

A salesman came to my house for a solar presentation. He claimed there were no fees or penalties until installation occurred. Luckily I read the contract and it stated there were fees unless cancelled within 3 days. This seems like it is illegal to tell false statements to a customer. I am rejecting this response because the salesman explicitly stated that there were no fees!!!  Then pushed me along to make all these signatures without reading anything claiming the same thing over and over!  I've read about this on reddit so it's obviously taught to the salesman and then you legally have this information in the fine print.  I just want all my personal information deleted and to not be contacted again.  Please confirm my personal information will all be deleted and not sold to any third parties.  It's really sad all these employees are willing to be ok with taking advantage of average middle class people just to make a couple extra dollars.  I hope you will reconsider employment at this company and look for a job that helps people and not hurts them.

I was lied to by this company. They oversold me solar panels and put an $85,000 loan in my name. I was told my payment would not exceed $270. The document that they presented to me has a signature that I did not sign. I told them I have an appointment and I’m leaving and I don’t have time for this. While I was out of the house, they had someone else in my family signed the document, they raised my payment to $370 I tried to cancel to no avail

There were several things that did not go well at first when it came to the install, the service and just the timing and how long it took. Some things did get resolved, the service is up and running and the company did take my concerns and frustration seriously. The reps that I interacted with were able to help with any appropriate compensation and in the end it all worked out. But now it seems they cannot get the work done to pass inspection again, whoever the owner of this company is doesnt exist, they wont help in the thermostat return. Seriously, Im really regretting my decision with this place. Im still waiting for approval and the thermostat to be refunded. That is all. Why is that so hard?

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
