I am reaching out for urgent assistance regarding a deeply concerning situation involving my elderly father and his wife. They recently visited Precision Chiropractic and Wellness (located at ******************************************************) for a consultation after attending a free dinner seminar.Upon arrival at the clinic, the staff immediately began taking impressions of my fathers feet and engaging in a series of procedures, claiming they would address all of his pains and even help him lose weight. My father and his wife were subjected to a whirlwind of confusing information, including shock therapy on his feet, selling of pillows for back pain, insoles, and other products that seemed unrelated or unnecessary. They were pressured into signing documents they didnt fully understand, and after four hours of this, my father was told the cost for all these treatments and products would be $10,464.12, which he paid by credit card. However, after payment, they informed him this amount was not enough to cover the services. The clinic convinced him to open a line of credit, adding an additional $13,455.00, bringing the total to $23,********* father and his wife were led to believe they were signing up for legitimate, beneficial treatments, but the entire process seemed designed to overwhelm and confuse them. As a result, they wiped out his savings and retirement fund to cover the initial payment, and now he is burdened with debt from the credit line they ********* this time, my father is left with no savings, a substantial amount of debt, and no clear understanding of what he has received in return for these payments. We believe he was the victim of predatory and deceptive business practices, and we are seeking guidance on how to proceed. We would greatly appreciate any assistance or advice on how to address this situation and recover the lost funds, whether through legal action, a consumer protection agency, or other appropriate avenues.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/20/2024

    Dear Better Business Bureau,

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to respond to the concerns raised regarding the services provided at Precision Chiropractic and Wellness.
First and foremost, I want to express my understanding of the emotional and financial concerns described in this complaint. As a healthcare provider, my goal is to improve the quality of life for every patient I treat, and I take any concerns regarding my practice seriously.

Regarding the details presented in the complaint:

Patient Confidentiality: As a licensed healthcare provider, I am bound by the **************** Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which prohibits me from discussing the specifics of patient care or financial arrangements with anyone other than the patient or their authorized representative. To protect patient privacy, I cannot disclose details about the care provided to the individuals mentioned so will speak in generalities.

Informed Consent and Financial Transparency: Every patient who visits my office is provided with thorough explanations of recommended care plans, associated costs, and any alternative options. Before proceeding with any services or purchases, we ensure that patients are given the opportunity to ask questions and make informed decisions. Signed consent forms and signed contracts are collected to confirm their understanding of our terms of agreement when starting care in our office. In fact, we have three separate sections that they sign agreeing to no-refunds on supplements and equipment.  It really couldn't be more clear on this matter.

Resolution Efforts: We have meet with all parties in our office to give clarification of responsible charges and what will be refunded after this complaint was filed. We have acted in a professional and fair manner regarding this case in attempting to help these patients gain greater health and wellness through our services. Refunds have been issued according to our contractual agreement.

General Practices: It is worth noting that our services, products, and care plans are designed with the goal of providing comprehensive and effective care to improve patient health and well-being. Pricing is determined transparently and is reflective of the high-quality equipment, technology, and expertise we offer.  There are certain things that are considered refundable like services that have been paid for in advance before they have been delivered.  There are other things like medical equipment dispensed at home and nutritional supplements that are non-refundable as soon as they are ordered for the patient or as soon as they walk out the door with said items.  We have no control over what happens with this equipment or supplements once they leave our office, therefore we have a strict no-refund policy on these items.  Some patients may want to change their mind about the purchase of these items after the fact for one reason or another, however this does not nullify our terms of agreement and office policy on our non-refundable products.  We refund any un-used services that have been paid for in advance and not used when a patient requests a refund on their care plan.

I assure you that my team and I are committed to upholding ethical and professional standards in all interactions. I hope this response clarifies our position to resolve this matter in a fair and respectful manner.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.
