My vehicle was towed by a third party to this shop, where they immediately gave a quote for $837 and I requested that they take pictures of the damages, and give me a quote. They proceeded to refuse to send any images, or respond to the email requests for information from the rental company that was handling the tow.
The next quote I got was for $1770. I asserted that the first quote contained the same repairs as the first, and they said they just made up something and gave it to the third party that evening. I told them I didn't think that was good way to do business, and Jason responded that he had better things to do than argue with me, and if I didn't like it, I could take it elsewhere.
I called around and found another place that quoted me $350 for the repairs, so took steps to take it there. I called United Automotive to let them know that I would be moving my RV, and they told me I would have to pay for the diagnostic. The link they sent me for the quote was then updated, erasing the entire $1770 quote, leaving a charge of $157 for the diagnostic, plus a repair that I did not request, totaling $360.55. When I confronted them about it, he claimed the charge was part of the diagnostic, so I told him I was going to file a complaint with the BBB, and he said he wouldn't let the tow truck get my RV unless they were paid first.
I am paying in order to get my property released, and taken somewhere it will be repaired by a more honest businessman.
I am currently trying to contact them back to get a copy of the $1770 quote, and they aren't answering their phones. I have told them there is a tow truck on the way, and I am willing to pay to get it away from them, but they are sending all my calls directly to voicemail.
Once I have a written quote from the other company, I will submit that as well.
