Pricing is a scam..was charged $1,400 for service and battery replacement. I was told by Power Systems West (PSW) they charge a mileage fee of $2.50 and $210 an hour plus parts. *** would not give me any indication of an estimated cost for service, just their hourly rates. This was my first red flag. *** also require your credit card information and authorization before they come out. Another red flag that made me nervous I was going to get overcharged but they are the recommended service provider for Kohler generators. So I went against my gut and requested a service/oil change and battery replacement, which the service tech did do a good job on. However, I was shocked when I got the final bill...$1,400!!!! The tech did not come prepared for oil change on first trip, just the battery replacement. So I was charged double for service hours and travel costs for a second trip to complete the service/oil change. Then the mileage fee I was charged was $3.50, not $2.50 and was surprised with truck and shop surcharges of $20 and $22. If I'm charged for mileage, why am I also getting charged for a truck fee? For comparison, I had a mobile mechanic from my **** dealership come do an oil change on my truck at my house for $98. AVOID this place!!!! Pricing is not transparent and you will get overcharged!!!!

The work done on our Kohler Generator was professional and solved our problem in the hour the service man was here. Here is the problem we encountered: Prior to setting the appointment, we filled our our credit card information on a form they supplied. Here were their rates: "Our hourly rates are $195.00 per hour and $2.00 per mile portal to portal." We saw that as mileage from ************** to ********, ****, one way, about $108.00 (definition of 'portal to portal'.) We planned on about an hour on the job for the Tech, which it was, about $195.00. We figured parts might cost something, so we estimated the cost out of pocket would be about $400.00 to $500.00 dollars. The bill arrived, paid by our credit card for $778.99. I called the company and they said that was 3 (three) hours labor ($585.00 for 'labor' alone), which includes his travel time down and back to the shop. There were also two surcharges totaling $42.00, of which was not mentioned at all in that one line price quote.I called our contact person in the company and explained that their price quote sentence was extremely misleading. It should read (if this is how they are to conduct their business): On the job site labor: $195.00/hour. Travel time-round trip: $195.00/hour. Mileage-one way: $2.00/mile. Surcharges (for shop charges and surcharges): $20 or $22.00 per category. Tax is not included in this. That contact person agreed to credit us back $148.00 (1/2 hour labor and the two surcharges taken off). We accepted. Personally, I think more should have been credited, like another $100.00. Charging a rate for the Tech to travel in the vehicle is justified, but perhaps at half rate of on-the- job-site service. This should be better presented so that customers know exactly what may be expected.
