In September 2021 I signed a contract with Kemp and Associates regarding the estate of my cousin. For 25% of the estate, they agreed to represent my interest.
Since then, any updates have been referrals to the trustee (who I had to uncover by checking court records myself). All questions I've asked have been met with "I don't know' or referrals to the trustee. Requests for an accounting of services have been ignored.
I've been forced to work around the firm since 2022.
My aunt, in her 90s, has gotten little to no communications from the company at all.
I fear this is a scam, simply to attach themselves to estates without doing anything beyond filing paperwork indicating they want a chunk of money?

Kemp and associates got a hold of my husband about a cousin that died without a will. They offered to do all the work for 25% of inheritance. My husband said ok. They filed papers in court on 1/21/21. They only update you when we call them. Were talking 2 million dollars. The house was sold for 200,000 more then their estimate and we have not received any amount. IS THIS A SCAM OR WHAT

I was contacted in 2019 regarding a long-lost uncle I never knew existed. I responded. The letter I received from kemp and associates stated that in 2 years time I would receive my portion of the inheritance . I was reassured that 2 years was the maximum time they needed. That was 3 years ago. Since that time I have been the one calling for updates, kemp only gave updates after I called for them. There has been no settlement, and I have been indirectly told there is no relief in site. I find it interesting that there were never any updates unless I called and complained, then suddenly they had something to tell me,

I believe, at this point this is a scam. I believe that kemp and associates is deliberately holding this up so there will be additional income on their part. If you review the time line, you would notice that I inquired about interim payments, one of the latest phone calls I had with their lawyer said that when the accounting was sent back, interim payment couldn't happen. Funny how that happened.

And finally, the innuendos: Did you even know this uncle? I found it insulting.

I seek the better business bureaus assistance to end this matter.. Once I did, speak to the lawyer kemp and associates hired, and was estimated an amount of 50 thousand dollars. After reviewing the 1st tax return I believe this is a reasonable request
