I was laid off and signed up with some concern about if HealthShare would work if needed. 4 months after signing up I had a heart attack and Zion HealthShare came through paying for everything (minus the "deductible"). They have been easy to work with and they were helpful in communicating what documentation was needed. True, with traditional insurance you don't have to send in documentation, but to be honest it was easy to get the documentation and get it sent in. Thank you Zion HealthShare!

We had a terrible experience with traditional insurance, so we switched to Zion HealthShare. But be very careful as the language in their policies allows for their subjectivity in approving 'sharable events'. The words "such as" allows them to deny requests for reimbursements. I had an upper jaw surgery that was denied as falling under Dental. While I argued that none of the medical codes were related to a dental procedure, they stated their use of "such as" is not all-encompassing and allows them to include other possible events that aren't declared in their policy as being Dental and excluded. I had called in advance to find out if it would be sharable, and they advised me to simply submit the request, but they could not pre-determine. So be careful if you try to do your research on what they will/won't cover.... it is loosely written policies that allow for complete subjectivity - they don't like to state anything till they can deny it. I was devastated, I thought I'd finally found a reasonable answer for self-employed entrepreneurs to have affordable coverage. I even recommended them to many fellow self-employed contacts. But there is no point in paying any amount when it is so subjective, and you are gambling on them accepting to cover an event. Like traditional insurance, I would have been better off saving the monthly membership fee to have covered the procedure. I will be sure to warn friends and colleagues.

No communication, horrible company. our IUA is $5000, & we spent well over $5500 for the birth of our first ****** Spent months going back & forth because every time we sent in a file, it was the wrong file, or it wasnt enough, etc. Finally we have everything sent in, they tell us theyll get back to us with our new IUA (we did a home ************ said our *** would be lower due to that). Well its been over a ************** just ghosting us at this point. Absolute pathetic excuse of a company

So glad we found Zion Healthcare. It is hugely affordable (it would have been thousands a month to put the rest of us on my husband's work insurance plan, yikes!). We have always received payment for claims (for regular kid things, ER visits, sport concussion). I have simply never met a medical or insurance company with such great customer service. When you call in they are friendly and helpful. Both positive and negative reviews are correct in that health share is definitely not for everyone, so it is important you understand exactly what they will and won't cover and what you will be responsible for before committing. For us it is an excellent fit and I recommend them highly. Please keep up the good work!

As an early retiree I had trouble finding insurance in the post-Obamacare world. We have enough income to disqualify ** for ACA subsidy so ACA insurance cost us $25k year with a $10k deductible which is ridiculous. Though not insurance, Zion Healthshare has filled the void for my wife and me. We were members for three years for about $340/month with no claims (thankfully) as I went in for my routine WellCare colonoscopy just before Christmas. Having selected the WellCare option, Zion paid 100% of that procedure promptly via a virtual credit card I gave to the hospital. Sadly, the colonoscopy doc punctured my colon during the procedure requiring that I be admitted to the hospital for 4 days and $20k later I was released. **** immediately stepped up and provided sharing coverage and paid the $15k above my $5k sharing responsibility. **** did exactly what they said they would do when they said they would do it with excellent customer service throughout. Well be happy members until we reach ******** ***** happy we found ****.

When we first signed up, Zion was super fast at paying eligible bills (two to be exact). But with this last eligible bill (same type as other bills that were paid before), their customer service has gone from great to super sketchy, and we are heavily considering finding a new healthshare to switch to if this continues. We told them about the bill in December 2022, and they offered to do direct deposit into our account, but because we missed their phone call to accomplish that, they said they would send a check instead. Check never came, but due to travel we didn't realize it until March 2023. We reached out in March, they said they would resend the check and it would be here within 2-4 weeks. We asked if they can do direct deposit into our account, and they said their systems aren't capable of doing direct deposits (even though that was an option they provided to us in the past). A little off, but okay.We reached out 4 weeks later, and they said they sent the check on March 20 and should arrive within 2-4 weeks. We reached out again later, and they said they actually didn't send it on March 20, but on March 30, and it would arrive in 2-4 weeks. Exactly 4 weeks later on the day, they reach out and ask for our bank account number so they can do direct deposit! This is beyond ridiculous and there is clearly some dodgy business being done here, what with all the delays and excuses to avoid paying us our due.I don't know what's happened with their systems, if they're running out of money or what, but this is not okay and I'm getting fed up with their excuses and borderline lies. If I don't get my bill paid soon, I am switching.

Hi *****, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear about your difficult experience with our check reimbursement process, and we want to express our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We recently underwent an internal software migration, which temporarily impacted our ability to process ACH payments. During this time, we had to rely on checks to process payments. We know that this was not an ideal solution, and we apologize for any frustration it may have caused you. Our systems are now back up and running, and we are once again able to process ACH payments. Someone from our team will contact you directly to assist you with the reimbursement process and ensure that you receive the service you need.

Their IUA is deceiving compared to other providers, it's actually a "deductible" that you have to pay up to 3 times a year, not once, that's huge. They hide this from you until you sign up.
The icing on the cake is that they won't cover a medical expense that occured while the member was covered by Zion. They bailed on paying anything since the bill arrived "too late". So of note, if you have coverage with them when you go the doctor, and then cancel your membership two months later, they will say that they can't pay the bill for you since you're not a member anymore, even though it occured months before while you were a paying member of their service. If you already have coverage with them, wait until all your bills are settled before cancelling, because Zion will leave you holding the bag.
Avoid this group at all costs.

When you canceled membership with us this last October, you thanked us for supporting you over the years. We want to thank you for being a member over the years as well. During this time, you only paid towards your *** once. Preventive services are shared with the community without an initial unsharable amount (***). In the membership guidelines we address how the *** works. You can find information at ************************************************************************************. We have worked hard to clarify and educate our members on what an *** is and how it works. We are sorry if you feel that the *** is confusing to you. It is not a deductible, and we never claim that it is. We are confused as how this leads to a one-star review after we are always prompt in sharing requests and always do what we promised.
