On June 7th, we received a notice from our landlord saying that if we choose to extend our lease, our rent would go up.On June 29th, I called our leasing office and told them I /needed to give notice that we didn’t plan on renewing our yearly lease. I was told it could be emailed in. I sent an email on June 29th through our resident portal. I received a confirmation email from them. I took this to mean that they had received my 60-day notice but I needed to give them a 30-day notice if we did not intend to go month-to-month or had a date at which month-to-month would be finished. I called the leasing office on Friday, July 29th, to give my 30 day notice because we did not need to execute a month-to-month lease. I was told I had not given 60 day notice and would have to come in to sign official 60-day notice papers. I went into the leasing office that afternoon to explain that I had given notice by showing them the email I sent and the one they sent back. At this time, I was told that my notice was not official because I had not signed official documents provided by the office. I told them that I was never told about official papers that had to be signed. 3

The said that since I didn’t give them 60 day “official” notice, I was obligated to stay until September 27th and would be charged $2943 plus utilities. I thought I did everything I was supposed to do. 6*
