Extremely Disappointed Poor Communication and Lack of Professionalism I had a terrible experience with Burke & Herbert Bank while trying to secure a mortgage. I was initially approved for a loan at a mid-6% rate by their senior mortgage officer, *******. After that, everything went downhill. ******* pulled my credit and then completely dropped the ball no follow-up, no updates, no communication whatsoever. Despite having a seller accept my offer and a 30-day closing window, my loan was left sitting with no progress. After multiple attempts to reach out and get answers (which were ignored), I had to physically go to the bank on a Saturday and speak to the branch manager to understand what was going on. Only then did they escalate the issue to a higher-level mortgage manager, who also failed to complete the loan in time. Throughout the entire process, there was zero accountability and no clear communication from anyone involved.Because of their negligence, I ended up losing the house and my ******* money a devastating and completely avoidable outcome. I would not recommend Burke & Herbert Bank for anyone seeking a mortgage. Their lack of professionalism and disregard for timely communication cost me thousands of dollars and a home I had under contract. Avoid at all costs

I am an Instacart shopper part-time and I pay $.50 to have my money direct deposited each day. As soon as I cash out my earnings, the balance is available in my account to spend. I will go and spend what I have available in my account and then wake up the next morning with an overdraft fee. The bank told me that I have to deposit before 5 PM, so I did it at 4:41 PM. I still woke up with an overdraft fee. When I called again, they told me I have to have it done before 3 PM. They gave you misleading information and why is it a positive balance to spend immediately, but yet they tell me I cant spend it till the next day? Shouldnt there be a hold on the money then?? What is the point of having a direct deposit showing an available balance to spend but yet when you spend it, you wake up to an overdraft fee because it hasnt fully posted. I am out on overdraft fees, which totals $128 because of this bank. No other bank does this, and I will be switching!! I didnt choose this bank, summit merged with them, and it is a huge mistake. I never had any of these issues with my Instacart earnings with Summit. This bank is a joke and they scam you out of money. Beware!!!

I applied for a mortgage in January, and because of my self-employment income, they told me I had to wait until I get my 2022 tax returns to approve me. After a month, and interest rates going up, I sent them my tax returns and I was told everything was good to proceed and gave me a prequalification letter to begin homebuying. Once I made an offer on a home, I was told an underwriter had looked at my income and was given loan terms to agree that I would like to proceed and subject myself to being charged $800 for an appraisal. The only condition besides providing proof of funds and signing credit explanation letters, was that I had to find a renter to sign a lease on the condo I live in. The day I was about to do so, I was called frantically and told there was an issue with the income on the application. After two days, I was told the underwriter could only approve me for a different loan, which had a higher interest rate. With no other option, I agreed to the change in terms and was told that the last thing I needed to do was sign have someone sign a lease on the condo I live in as everything else was supposedly approved. Then, a week before closing, I was told the debt to income ratio was too high and I would have to spend an extra $4,750 to buy points or I would not be approved. They never could quite tell me what the new payment or closing costs would be, but I verbally agreed to do so. Then, on the last day we had to secure financing, I got a call two hours before the deadline saying there was an issue with approving my income- despite being told it was approved before- and that I would have to come up with an extra $25,000 for the down payment, with proof of funds by the end of the day. I was advised to ask around for the money, and when I spoke with management, he said this is how the approval process works. Now I am left with no time to switch lenders, lost out on the property, and I have to move out of the condo I live in as I had to sign a lease on it.

If I could give them -0 I would have. I had overdraft fees and I called the call center supervisor by the name of Rick. He told that I can always contact him if I have any issues with overdraft fees. I contacted them this morning regarding my fees after over five running around calls!! I was able to speak to someone by the name of Casley. He was decent at first until I mentioned my fees, I was told by him that they can only waived one or two during 6 months period which I was never told by anyone. He looked at my account started to laugh at me which was very disrespectful, rude and unprofessional behavior. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he stated Rick is here with me so I asked to speak to Rick. He refused to let me speak to Rick instead he was arguing with me, he finally told me to get off his phone and hang up the phone on me. First Rick lied to me about the 6 months period waived policy. It’s like they come up with new policies every day and never notify their customers. Casley needs to be fired asap, he shouldn’t treat or speak to anyone like that. I will be closing my account real soon and take my business elsewhere.
