      I own a small pet grooming business in the city of Alexandria, VA and contracted with Rick’s to remove luxury vinyl tile flooring (LVT) in 2 main areas of the grooming spa and replace those floors with stained, sealed and polished concrete. In addition, a third area of the spa (the bathing area with the tubs and plumbing) which already had newer concrete floors was supposed to be sealed with a polished finish. The goal was to have completely smooth and glossy floors in all rooms that we can easily clean. I had even selected photos from the stain company (supplied by Ricks) to match the color and finish on our floors. We were extremely surprised to see the floors upon completion. The floors were not even close to the photos from the stain company we selected and agreed upon. They were not smooth at all, spots were missed, they were not at all glossy and the stain was extremely inconsistent as well. In the bathing area, it looked the same as before but with new lines all over the place and a knot taken out of the concrete floor – it was supposed to be glossy. In addition, it appears that preparation to protect our walls was not sufficient as there was dark stain all over our grey walls and white baseboard and finishing trim was never installed either. Ricks initially agreed to fix the floors but then put limits on what they would do. Attached is our complaint with the VA Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation that has the full narrative. My business now is getting estimates to repair and redo the floors because of the poor installation and terrible appearance.
