    I contacted S&S Paralegal Services, which is affiliated with ***** Paraelgals (husband and wife, ************************* and *****************) for support for a case I am filing pro se. I specifically requested help editing and shortening a draft legal complain that I wrote. ***** also said that she would do legal research on toxic mold cases. I first paid $75 to look at the draft complaint which I was eager to file in a short time to avoid any potential statute of limitation problems. ***** said she thought I had a strong case and would work on the complaint. She asked for $250 more. I paid her $300, more than she asked for because I had background information on the case that was important to understand. I sent her a copy of a different complaint that I already filed in DC Superior Court on May 31, 2022 against a mold inspector and remediator, for background information. She made comments about copy editing. I told her I did not want or need copy editing. I am a writer with disabilities caused by toxic mold, and struggling financially and we paying her for paralegal services, not copy editing. I had trouble paying so I paid her husband who had a ***** account which I was able to to. She failed to answer many calls and emails but when I connected she told me she was working on my complaint. After several weeks of losing precious time I told her I wanted what I asked for or else to give me my money back. After more delays and broken promises she sent me an edited word document, edited by her husband, *** - which was an unrequested copy edit of the obviously completed complaint that was already filed months before. I told her it was the wrong complaint - not even close to what I asked for and completely useless and obvious beyond the shadow of a doubt. I asked for a refund. She accused me of harassing her. I offered a courtesy notice to refund me before I took action. She accused me again. I saw someone else posted on ********** that ***** was a scam - so I am not alone.

    Business Response

    To Whom It May Concern-
    In response to the complaint listed below, I state the following on behalf of S & S Paralegal Professional Services, LLC;
    1) *** ********, the complaint, has no direct business with S & S Paralegal Professional Services, LLP. She was never our client and never received an invoice from me for any work done on her behalf. Her claim of reaching out to me for any work is patently false.
    2) S & S Paralegal Professional Services, LLC does perform subcontracting work with other companies, and have worked with the other party the complainant alleges in her filing to the Better Business Bureau. I don’t have any details about the original contracted work thatthe complainant alleges in her complaint. Our company simply edited a document according to sub-contracted standards and gave it back to the sub-contracting entity. The work requested was completed on our end. I’ve attached a screenshot of the work completed that I received from another party to review;
    3) S & S Paralegal Professional Services, LLC was copied on an email from *** ******** on October 31, 2022. I kindly responded to *** ********, at which time she told me that S & S had nothing to do with her matter. Screenshots of those emails are attached.

    4) S & S Paralegal Professional Services, LLC prides itself in doing the right thing at all times. At no time has this organization ever scammed or treated a customer maliciously.

    I am thankful that the BBB has a platform for consumers to express their concerns and issues. I am truly disappointed that the claims in this complaint are unfounded and should not be directed to this business or anyone, as the work requested was completed.

    I am hopeful this succinctly addresses this matter, and I am hopeful that *** ******** finds whatever recourse she feels she needs to find.
